A l’antiga editorial Montaner i Simón hi ha, des de l’any 1990, la Fundació Antoni Tàpies. Obra de Domènech i Montaner, del 1885, va ser el primer edifici de l’Eixample amb una tipologia industrial de caire modernista.
La unió de l’estètica modernista funcional amb l’art contemporani de Tàpies el converteixen en visita obligada. Culminant la façana, destaca l’escultura de l’artista “Núvol i cadira”.

Edifici neomedievalista que ocupa tota una illa de l’Eixample. Té una planta de creu grega que dibuixa diversos claustres o patis interiors i jardins als angles exteriors. Al centre hi ha l’església, amb un destacat cimbori. A les façanes, en general austeres, hi ha diverses referències al romànic, especialment la porta principal, i també al gòtic civil català. Actualment acull la Facultat de Teologia i l’Institut Catòlic d’Estudis Socials.

Neo-medieval building that occupies an entire block of the Eixample. It has a Greek cross plan that draws several cloisters and courtyards and gardens outside the corners. In the center is the church, with a prominent dome. On the walls, usually austere, there are several references to the Romanesque, especially the front door, and the Catalan Civil Gothic. It currently houses the Faculty of Theology and the Catholic Institute of Social Studies.

Edificio neo-medievalista que ocupa toda una manzana del Eixample. Tiene una planta de cruz griega que dibuja varios claustros o patios interiores y jardines en ángulos exteriores. En el centro está la iglesia, con un destacado cimborrio. En las fachadas, en general austeras, hay varias referencias al románico, especialmente la puerta principal, y también al gótico civil catalán. Actualmente acoge la Facultad de Teología y el Instituto Católico de Estudios Sociales.

Some of the chimneys and other sculptures on the roof of La Pedrera.
Casa Mila, popularly known as La Pedrera (The Stone Quarry), is a spectacular apartment block designed by Antoni Gaudi in the Eixample area of Barcelona.
It was commissioned by industrialist Pere Mila and was built between 1906 and 1912 on the Passeig de Gracia, one of the main roads in the city.
The apartment block was Gaudi’s last civil work before he worked solely on the Sagrada Familia Temple and it an amazing showcase of Gaudi’s work.
The exterior façade has nothing resembling a straight line on it, winding around the corner and waving in and out of balconies.
The roof terrace is a maze of chimney pots, ventilation shafts and staircases that are all works of art in themselves, with the chimney pots resembling the heads of knights.
