EIDSBORG STAVE CHURCH
Telemark. Probably built in the early 1200’s, this church is dedicated to the traveler’s patron, St. Nicholas of Bari. The painted figures and ornaments from the Renaissance were uncovered during the 1927 restoration.
Eidsborg stavkirke er en stavkirke fra midten av 1200-tallet i Tokke i Telemark. Kirken er enskipet og blant de minste i landet. Eidsborg stavkirke ligger like ved landets største friluftsmuseum (målt i areal), Vest-Telemark Museum, og omvisninger i kirken arrangeres fra museet. (Wikipedia)

Stein Magne og jeg har kjørt hele til Dalen for å gå fottur i morgen, men på veien stopper vi og tar bilde av Eidsborg stavkirke fra midten av 1200-tallet.

The colours along the base of the wall are apparently eroded because the peasants attending church were leaning against the wall, due to the absence of seats, and eventually fell asleep during the sermon, slumping down against the wall.
