Turdunken is a Turken chicken which will have a naked neck when full grown, resembling a turkey.

She is not on the menu but maybe she needs a wash and brush up after her meal or a bib! she is moulting so she is short of a few feathers on top.

The firm is located in Kawizi; approximately 5 kms from the city of Uvira in South Kivu province, 124 km south of the province capital, Bukavu. It is situated on the northernmost point of Lake Tanganyika, opposite Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi (which is only 15 kilometers away). The city of Uvira also connects with Kigoma in Tanzania and to Mpulungu in Zambia due to its strategic position on the Lake Tanganyika.

Chooks settle down for the night, safe from foxes (touch wood).

It's difficult to capture all six in one picture, and impossible to get them to stand still!

These small fowl are very well known as egglayers, very good mothers and are often used for rearing eggs of more delicate breeds or even other species of birds such as pheasants.

She always seems to have a new pose when I take her picture... she's so sweet.. She was way across the yard when I called out, "Duckie.. come here Duckie..." and she ran all the way to me with her wings flapping.. so cute.. this is the face she gave me when she reached me..

Wow.. look how grown up Loulou is... We now call her "Duckie" more than Loulou.. Her legs are still very orange.. like a little duckie :)

She's trying to figure out why the camera is barking at her. I have my new camera shutter sound set to a little dog barking. She is quite interested in it :)

The tetras flare at each other rather than actual fighting, they make a lovely shape when they do this, I never realised before I got them, they are proving an interesting and rewarding purchase.. ooo and they are all still alive too, which is happy. :)

Getting good pictures of my hens is exceptionally difficult. They move all the freakin' time! But this one turned out pretty well. I love my birds.
