The ideal is to find things that have rusted naturally, but that’s not always possible. I decided to try a new rust effect product on some items laying around the house, to see what would happen. As you can see this rust effect product works very well on plastic, wood or even glass. Also possible to paint with it. Have a good fun. Took me about a million tries to capture the Pantscast window in mid-flip - I'd never seen someone do a background for this transition effect before.
Here is a frame extracted from a movie file shot with my Canon EOS 7D to highlight the rolling shutter problem.
I shot this scene as I was travelling at high speed in the Eurostar. This train can reach speed up to 320 km/h (or 200 mph) or the speed of an F1 car in straight line. On the photo above, you can clearly see that the post is not straight but looks skewed ! This is caused by the way CMOS sensors record images. The top of the image is not recorded at the same time than the bottom of the image so as the train as moved the post becomes distorted and skewed. The image is recorded line by line.
I was using my 7D in manual mode : M, 1/100sec, f/9 @ 22 mm, recording 25 fps at 1080p. I guess it's probably possible to calculate the speed I was travelling too !
Got a lifetime opportunity to cover the Air show of Our Indian Airforce on 06/10/2024 commemorating the 93rd anniversary of IAF. More than 15 lakh people witnessed the event in the Marina beach, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, which became a Limca book of records event. One of the major reasons why we need to work towards protecting the environment is because it helps to protect humanity. If we didn’t have our environment, then we wouldn’t have a place to live or resources to live.it is our moral obligation to do so. As a human who lives on earth, it is our responsibility to make sure that it is protected. We must give back to the future generation that what we have received and enjoying. Give them an environment that isn’t damaged and teach them how to continue living sustainably. I request all good souls to plant Banyan tree while making tree plantation. It will have a long lasting effect for mankind and go a long way in carry forwarding the nature to the next generation and will also give fruits useful for birds. Instagram Id : @nagendran_c4777. Planting of trees in a special occasion such as Birthday Wedding etc is a excellent gesture. It can be done in memory of our Parents, Teachers, Friends and also people who comes across in our life such as Doctors Nurses and health staff for their noble service to the society.
I finally marked white water rafting off of my bucket list last weekend. A group of friends and I rafted along the middle and lower Ocoee River in Tennessee. This is the same river that hosted several kayaking and rafting competitions during the 1996 Summer Olympics...however I don't think I performed 1/10 as well as those Olympians! It was a blast though, and I enjoyed every single second (as you can probably tell..I'm the one in the upper middle that is laughing all of the way...although maybe I was screaming in terror at this point...I can't remember).
We are already planning a second trip where we plan to include the upper Ocoee as well, which has more Class IV's and V's. (this was mainly III's and IV's). Now that I've got one trip under my belt, I'm sure those Class V's will be a breeze! (not!)
If you haven't been, you should definitely check it out! The scenery is gorgeous and the rush is just awesome!
August 2011 MSH Entry - "Ripple Effect"
I had to increase the contrast and saturation to bring out the sunbow here, but even in this dramatic photo, the reality of the scene was even more remarkable. This was during the winter and there was a full 22-degree rainbow around the sun. I remember this day vividly because I was jumping up and down in rapture looking at this magnificent scene. Sunbows are actually kind of common, but usually it's too bright to see them; this day, however, was just perfect for viewing.

Celebrating ‘The Big Lunch’ in Portstewart
Last year we had a Big Lunch on our street, celebrating a jubilee garden near the pensioners bungalows, created by the children. The Big Lunch was a simple but clever way to bring all the generations together. The children and elderly residents got to know each other better, sharing local stories and songs, and discovering the wealth of talent on our doorstep. It all helped to create a feel good atmosphere on our street.
It has had a profoundly positive effect on the whole street, and we not only know who our neighbours are, but have since supported each other in times of loss.
After our second party in September we started a befriending scheme were we look out for our each other’s houses and elderly neighbours, and are alerted to a problem if their curtains are not open by lunchtime. A simple task which works!
For this year ‘Big Lunch', we made our own bunting, banners, and collected donations. The excitement in the run up to the party is almost as good as the day its self on our street. We are all proud to live in Portstewart and our ‘Big Lunch’ celebrates the good will on our street.
I would encourage anyone to give it a go as The Big Lunch team are there to help you and it doesn’t need to cost much if everyone brings something to the table. Sure it’s fantastic fun and can make a difference in so many ways.
