July 18
HUGE thanks to David for lending me his camera for this photo. More on that later.
This morning we got up and did some exploring around Santa Fe. I know youâre wondering so Iâll bite: There are a TON of Geodudes and Eevees around here. There. Got that cleared up. But yeah, we had breakfast at a place called Palacio and wandered around that area. There were some excellent shops around there, particularly one just down the street that felt kind of like a DIME-type store. We definitely walked out of there with some crap.
We barely made it back to the place in time to load up and get out by 11am, our check-out time. Then it was back on the road! We made a few more stops between Santa Fe and Colorado, too. We saw Camel Rock, Red Rock (or is it just red rocks?), and the Echo Amphitheater. The Echo Amphitheater is SUPER cool. Itâs one of those things that just seems to get bigger as you walk closer to it.
We got all the way up there, shouted into the thing a few times, and took some pictures. I got some cool ones of David, Emily, and Arri standing on a platform. As a matter of fact, as soon as I took those pics, the bottom fell out and it was suddenly pouring down rain on us. We ran as fast as we could (hello, shin splints) back to the car. Everyone made it back in one piece, but my camera totally stopped functioning. I could turn it on, but none of the buttons on it worked at all. Thatâs actually still the case right now, although Iâm close to figuring it out. I think some water got under the shutter button, and itâs making contact without even touching the button. Basically, the camera things Iâm halfway-pressing the shutter all the time, which explains why no buttons work and the LCD only turns on when I shut the camera off (sensor cleaning). If I barely touch the shutter button, the camera starts firing off images. Iâm REALLY hoping it heals itself overnight, because this would be terrible timing to not have a camera.
As we drew closer to the cabin, we saw this view from the side of the highway and decided to stop. Thankfully, David let me borrow his camera to grab a shot myself. Itâs actually a pano of 8 frames shot on the 70-200mm. Everything here is gorgeous.

TK-7707 and the Littlest Pikachu took the long journey through the depths of the backyard to find our local wildlife Pokémon. With the help of the Littlest Pikachu's mother (far-left) they were able to gather a community meeting. TK-7707 and Pikachu spread the word about Pokémon GO – about the plethora of trainers lurking nearby and about safety in approaching trainers to be caught as well as safety in remaining hidden from collectors. The Pokémon were a bit weary of TK-7707 himself – there were quite a few little jolts of electricity, water spurts, and fireballs when he got too close – but his close relationship with the Littest Pikachu helped to soothe their nerves.
At the end of his speech, TK-7707 also offered his protection services, as well as free safe haven for all the wild Pokémon. Following te offer, all Pokémon turned to face Mew, the pale, meek looking Pokémon lingering in the back. Mews, rare and mythical Pokémon, are known for their long range of abilities. This particular Mew was undoubtedly their high command. With a flick of the Mew's skinny pink tail, all the Pokémon chattered away in acceptance. A quick translation check with the Littlest Pikachu ensured that they had indeed positively received our information as well as accepted TK-7707 in as a friend.
In celebration of our new found friendship, Charmander blew a fireball so large that it singed TK's outer body armor... Woops, just a missfire ^_^ After that, the two resident Jigglypuff began to sing in rejoice... however, for those that don't know, Jigglypuffs are known for their sweet song that lulls unsuspecting attackers right into dreamland. Thankfully Pikachu was smart enough to get TK-7707 out of there before they all fell asleep in the bushes.
In short: A trek into the forest to search for wild Pokémon, successful communications with said wildlings, and safe journey home. Mission Completed! Mission Status: Successful :)
After displaying Pikachu, Geodude, Ditto and Eevee at Brickvention 2020, I would like to share the next three models in my growing collection of LEGO Pokemon.
Introducing for Brickvention 2021 Online; Squirtle, Togepi and Charmander!
If Pokemon were real, these models would be the same height as their real Pokemon counter parts, making Charmander the tallest at 61cm high, and baby Togepi only 30cm tall.
Drawing from his Anime origins, Squirtle also has a pair of 'Squirtle Squad Glasses' which it wore as part of a Squritle Fire Brigade.
Togepi is the first model to have moving parts, which are arms on large ball joints. This allows the little one lots of different poses and helps enchance its cute expression.
I get a lot of enjoyment building each Pokemon model, as they all offer new and unique challenges, and you can use such a vibrant array of colours which you might not build classic LEGO models out of.
You can view bigger galleries of last years models on Instagram, with professional galleries of these latest models coming soon!

I decided to update my existing Pokemon Center. I've added a second story and a rooftop area that has a battle arena for training.
The first story has the traditional Pokemon Center healing utility with Nurse Joy. There is also a library to the right, plus a PC Box. Various items that are sold on the second story of the Pokemon Center are on display, including poke balls and potions.
The second floor features a Poke Mart which you can access by elevator. The shop has everything an aspiring trainer could ask for: potions, status condition healing spray, evolution stones, lures, mega evolution charms, trainer clothing, raid passes and poke balls of all kinds!
If you want to test your skills, there is a battle arena on the rooftop. Participants are welcome to use the berries growing in the gardens for their Pokemon in trainer battles.
Characters included in the set are:
Chase and his Eevee
Ellie and her Jigglypuff
Aiden and his Lucario
Summer and her Bulbasaur
Professor Aspen
Nurse Joy and Chansey
Poke Mart attendant
I got THREE ROLLS OF NEW SLIDES back to project on people! Heck yeah! Shot with one of the rolls today with Eevee, who was excited to be my guinea pig. We didn't get to the second two rolls because we were both exhausted.
