In the small town of Slavsko, a group of dedicated teachers gather to learn new methods and tools to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of their careers: helping their students overcome learning losses caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
For educators like Anna Semylit, a chemistry teacher from Kyiv, the challenges of teaching amidst conflict are immense.
"While working at school, I often encountered learning losses among students. This is an overwhelming nationwide challenge." ~Anna Semylit, Teacher, Ukraine
Yet, she’s hopeful that, with the right support, these challenges can be addressed – and she’s seeing the way forward with help from a tutoring catch-up workshop she is taking part in with other educators in the country.
The training, organized by Teach For Ukraine as part of a joint Kyiv School of Economics Institute and Finn Church Aid Multi-Year Resilience Programme funded by Education Cannot Wait (ECW), focuses on providing secondary school teachers with strategies to address learning losses, build positive classroom relationships and create individualized learning plans for students.

EDUCATORS/EDUCATED: JEWELRY & METALS IN OHIO

Educators/Educated: Jewelry & Metals in Ohio focuses on the rich legacy of metals programs at Ohio’s colleges and universities. Exceptional programs in jewelry and metalsmith are recognized in the exhibition of more than 70 artists. Educators and alumni from the University of Akron, Bowling Green State University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Kent State University, Miami University of Ohio and Ohio Wesleyan University are represented in the exhibition through a variety of media and a range of experience and personal imagination.
Recruiters from the Mechanicsburg RS hosted an Educator’s Breakfast Sept. 30 at the Red Land High School in Lewisberry, Pa. This breakfast was a part of the weeklong events of the Harrisburg Battalion’s Army Rivalry Tour for the football game Red Land at Cedar Cliff on Oct. Army Rivalry Tour provides local recruiting stations with leads, and develops and cultivates espirt de corps within the school’s student body and staff. It also gives the community an added motivation to attend the game to support their high school’s football team. It can also provide recruiters the opportunity to recognize the weekly winners of the battalion-sponsored Army Iron Man and Army Coach Competitions. Every year, the College of Education hosts a social for Pullman-area educators, with whom the college has a special relationship.
On August 16, 2017, the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce sponsored the annual New Educator Breakfast to welcome CFB's newest teachers.

The Valdosta-Lowndes Retired Educators Association meeting was held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Holiday Inn in Valdosta, GA. The legislators were present to answer questions before the business meeting and delicious lunch buffet was enjoyed by many.
