Designer Fairytale Beast has been fully deboxed, and is posed free standing alone. He has a custom body, but has the same level of articulation as the Disney Prince dolls. He is very stable free standing on his large flat feet. As the sunlight was dim, flash was used in most of these photos.
First look at my Belle and the Beast Doll Set, part of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. Purchased from my local Disney Store through the raffle process on release day, October 1, 2013. There were 28 doll sets available, and easily three times that many people who entered. I was very lucky in that I was the next to last person to be chosen.

Belle and the Beast are both fully deboxed. They are placed back on the display stand, with the Beast's doll stand is turned 90 degrees counterclockwise from the original position, so he is facing the same direction as Belle. I also place his hand on Belle's waist. They look much better now as a couple.

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Gullwing Coupe
Motorcar Miniatures
From CMC:
Who doesn't know about the famous Uhlenhaut coupé with its landmark gullwing doors? Only two prototypes of this model were built, and it was and still is a formidable street car. The irony is that most people only had the chance to see it from behind. Back then, while the fastest BMW was capable of reaching 170 km/h, and the fastest Porsche, even up to 200 km/h, the Uhlenhaut coupé could speed at nearly 300 km/h. It surely caused a lot of amazement as well as jealousy.
The explanation, however, is simple. Underneath the bodywork is an enhanced 3-litre Formula 1 engine. Actually the two coupés were built for racing. Their intended mission was to participate in endurance races, such as the Mille Miglia or the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But Daimler surprisingly decided to retire from professional racing at the end of 1955, and the situation changed drastically.
Rudolf Uhlenhaut, an ingenious engineer in charge of the Mercedes racing department, rightly decided that it would be a shame to let the two cars sit idle to gather dust in a garage. As a result, the two 300 SLR coupés became his personal company cars. Today every automobile enthusiast knows what is meant by "the Uhlenhaut coupé," even though this was never an official designation. When Rudolf went to work in the morning, the whole neighborhood noticed it. Because the 300 hp 8-cylinder would send out a throbbing uproar. And there were limits to what the additional silencer could do to reduce the deafening noise of the side pipes. Rudolf Uhlenhaut really enjoyed driving the coupés, and he also had the skills to handle these beasts of power. Contemporary witnesses confirm that he was able to drive from Stuttgart to Munich in less than an hour. Given the increasing traffic congestion, this is something we can only dream about today.
The Uhlenhaut coupès are not for sale. Daimler holds onto them as if they were their crown jewels. If you want to see the original Uhlenhaut coupé, you have to visit the Daimler museum in Stuttgart, Germany. If you want to see it every day, however, just put our incomparably beautiful model on display in your cabinet.

The shipping carton was very large and heavy. It was 42'' x 18'' x 8'' and weighed 28 pounds. It came from the Disney Store warehouse in Memphis, Tennesse, from where the DS ships almost all their merchandise.
My pre-order for the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection Doll Set just arrived at my home today. It consists of all five doll couples in the collection, in one very large shipping box. I will show the entire set during the process of unpacking them from the shipping cartons, and showing the dolls themselves in their display cases. I will not debox any of these dolls. I have been deboxing ''spares'' of these dolls, as they were released once every two weeks, since August 20, 2013. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the Ariel and Eric set today at the store raffle, so will order my spare set tonight online. I had pre-ordered this collectioin at the D23 Expo on August 9, 2013.
My first surprise is that I got a very low edition number for the set, only #12 of 6000! The second surprise is that all the dolls but Snow White and the Prince had this low number. The Snow White set unfortunately was #4508 of 6000. I will certainly contact the Disney Store Guest Services to see what can be done about this discrepancy.

Fairytale Designer Eric has been fully deboxed, and is posed free standing. Photographed in natural light.
I've finally decided to watermark all my photos that I upload to Flickr, from now on. I'm getting tired of seeing my photos used without my permission to sell other people's merchandise on eBay, especially for LE items. So my name on my photos will hopefully help deter people from doing that in the future.
Eric has the Classic Disney Prince body, but a unique head sculpt. He has ivory colored satin shirt, with rolled up long sleeves. His rolled up sleeves are sewn in that position, and has considerable fraying from the inside of the cuffs. It should be easy to free the cuffs, and roll down the sleeves. However, they don't look like they are full length, and would stop short of his wrists. He has navy blue pants, wide red sash with a separate belt over it. He has dark blue painted on underpants, matching the color of his pants. He has black boots that are a little more realistic that the usual Disney Prince footwear. His edition number and size are stamped on his back.
I just received my second Ariel and Eric Doll set, that I ordered online last Wednesday, October 16, 2013. It is #1145 of 6000. At first look, my new set looks almost perfect, with a Ariel in a better pose, her eyelashes more even, and the collar neater than in my #12 pre-ordered set. It almost seems a shame to debox the dolls, rather leaving them as is, but I need to free them from all the packing material, so they can be posed with other dolls, and when reboxed, be able to be viewed from all angles.

The inaugural AMG editions, dubbed Edition 1, are usually very very very common in Germany. Many people opt for them. So it's always great to see one from abroad. An edition is always a nicer touch over the standard thing, even when these editions often don't mean that much.

Project 192/365
A trip to Camano Island State Park let us see a ton of starfish on the beach. This starfish's swimsuit wasn't natural, but with the pose on the rock, it just seemed needed. I just imagine National Geographic doing an entire issue of wildlife posing like Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition models.
The road to success in motorsport is never an easy one, and W.O.Bentley - the founder of Bentley Motors - was determined to succeed at Le Mans in 1926 after tre frustrations of the previous year. A total of three cars were entered : two works examples and, to complete the factory effort, a private entry to be run by the competition department. This was a special order car for Tommy "Scrap" Thistlethwayte, a charismatic, wealthy playboy who was well known for his racing exploits at the time. The Bentley Boy who was to oversee the building and running of this special Bentley, as well as to co-pilot the car during the actual race, was wartime hero and Bentley Boy Captain Clive Gallop !
Thistlethwayte specified the short 9-foot chassis, making it one of only 14 Green Label 100 mph Bentleys produced. It has the rare tapered radiator and a Super Sports engine, while the body is unique. Le Mans rules stipulated that all cars had to carry a four-seated body, which proved a problem with this short 9-foot chassis. This task was given to Martin Walter, a specialist coachbuilder of the day who constructed the racey body that it retains today. The race for "Number Nine" (as commonly referred to throughout the Bentley's life due to its Le Mans event number) started well enough and by 4am on Sunday Morning was lying third. However, fate played a cruel hand : at 8.30 am on lap 105 a broken rocker cover finished its race. As history would relate, while the other two Bentleys failed to finish in 1926, one of them - "Old Number Seven" - would return the following year, securing victory and initating Bentley's dominance at the famous La Sarthe circuit.
Following Le Mans, Number Nine went on to compete at Brooklands and the Irish Grand Prix before being retired from racing. Following World War II, the Bentley had a number of enthusiastic owners, one spanning more than 40 years, before being acquired by its current owner in 2010. Recently, Number Nine has been used regularly and was seen competing on the 2011 running of "The Flying Scotsman".
The importance of Number Nine cannot be underestimated : with an unique Martin Walter body, not only does it remain one of the most original vintage Bentleys in existence, notably retaining its period engine, but it is the only 100 mph Super Sports to have competed Le Mans. This is the first time in the modern age that Number Nine has been publically offered for sale and represents an unrepeatable opportunity to secure a hugely important vintage Bentley.

Belle and the Beast are both fully deboxed. They are placed back on the display stand, with the Beast's doll stand is turned 90 degrees counterclockwise from the original position, so he is facing the same direction as Belle. I also place his hand on Belle's waist. They look much better now as a couple.

CMC Classical Model Cars
