One light setup.
Subject in shade. Subjects waist is about 7 feet above ground level here. I boomed a 60" softlighter cam left about 12 feet high, higher than I've ever boomed. It was a very windy day too. I had 6 sandbags holding it down and two more used for counter weights but it was still too windy. Luckily I had my assistant to keep everything from crashing down. Inside softlighter I had two YN560's @ half power and a fl-36 with ebay trigger to fire them. Held together with a lastolite tri flash sync bracket. Shot at 1/160th @ F4.
Just as a side note. I purchased those two YN560's last week, this was my first real shoot testing them. I have to say I am quite impressed for their price. I bought them just to compliment my existing speedlight collection as lighting up backdrops, hairlights etc, but I think I'll be using them more as prime lights. They have a good recycle time even at full power 1-2 seconds even on low batteries and push out nearly as much light as my FL-50r's. They're inexpensive yet feel of good quality but only time will tell how long they last.
Demi Lovato edit. I kind of like this, except for the crack on Demi's face. Got the idea from: www.flickr.com/photos/pkj_lover_81408/5236242404/in/conta...
Comment if you like/save/take.
I bracketed +2 over the course of sunset and blue hour. I then added a few flash pops to bring some light back in the trees.
It was all manually composited in photoshop and refined in lightroom with a few finishing edits.
I captured the image using a Canon 6D, 17-40 F4, Mini TT5/Flex, 430ex ii.
I am always looking to improve so any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Here is a new edited version thanks to the help and advice from flickr members of areas being a little dark. Special thank you to Barbara (Belincs) for actually telling me how to do it
Sorry people its smoke again...
I am trying to keep to a subject simply as for me I find I learn more keeping to a subject the old saying “jack of all trades but a master of nothing”. But for this year I have decided to become maybe not a master but more competent with my camera by shooting things I enjoy.
Today I took a series of shots of an Apple and Smoke but after viewing over and over again I decided this was the one I was most happy with, and the one I could relate too. After viewing and viewing I found something close to my heart and I am sure other parents will relate. I found that unconditional love we have for our children and if you look at the image you can see the heart (the apple) and if you look up you can see a child facing away from the screen with its arms stretched out wide looking for the comfort/protection only a parent can give. A simple reminder to me how precious life is.
This was one shot of the smoke and apple together and then mirrored in PS and a gradient layer added

Chinese steamer 8419 crosses the Des Moines River. The best smoke show they put on was way before the middle, but I'll take what I can get! This steam engine was the last one built in China in 1988, and sent straight over to the US, hence the American and Chinese flags at the front. Even our steam engines come from China....AUGH!!!!!
I'm uploading this for a discussion in the portfolio pro group... Just showing what the original RAW file looks before applying contrast & brightness settings to it. This is ONLY adjusting RAW settings, I don't think I edited this version in pshop. (Final version has a darker background, from the same image, which is pshopped.)

Juvenile Tiercel peregrine (male peregrine falon). Full grown but less than a year old, still has his brown juvenile plumage. Will eventually have a blue-grey back.
If you land here from the Befunky.com homepage, please make sure you take a look at the rest of the set: Photo Shoot - Morgan J. She is a lovely model... and a beautiful person.
The template is called Lomoart #1, with additional tweaks in Befunky's basic functions. I like the results.
Here's another shot from "mini micro 4/3 mall photo walk" last weekend while I was waiting on my wife's car at the window tint shop. As I was walking through the mall, I figured a quick trip in to the Disney store would be a good warm up for our upcoming Disneyland trip. I'm still getting used to this little Olympus camera, but so far it has been a ton of fun to soot with and the images are great. I think it will be a very nice addition to my travel kit!
