Original by IttyBittyJes here: www.flickr.com/photos/ittybittyjes/4605739487/
Both edits done in Lightroom. Here are my basic steps:
Straightened the photo making the wooden bar level, cropped slightly to bring the hat to the left edge.
Used the clone/heal tool to clean up the crumbs/spots around her mouth and the dark spot on her hat.
Applied preset Vintage Blue
Adjusted exposure to 0.51
Adjusted brightness to 43
Reduced luminance smoothing to 55 and color noise reduction to 68
Added an adjustment brush set to Iris Enhance selecting her eyes
Removed the vignette that was added in the preset and then used adjustment brush to lighten the upper left corner of the hat and darken the portion above her forehead.
Adjusted the Shadow Hue slightly to adjust the color
Added a Dodge adjustment just under her lips as it was a bit dark.
For the black & white, I started with the color edit and converted to b&w, adjusting the Shadow Hue and Contrast until I got tones I liked. Set the Point Curve to Strong Contrast
Adjusted contrast, fill light, and recovery until I liked the results.
This didn't turn out as great as I wanted it to. I think the original looks better and he stands out a little too much.
Thoughts?

All editing done with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and the Noiseware Community Edition.
I started this edit by rotating clockwise just a bit. After rotating, I used Image>Resize>Scale to recompose the shot. I felt the pom pom was too close to the edge of the frame and thought it detracted rather than added to the shot.
Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Levels
I auto adjusted and then adjusted the middle shadow slider to brighten it up a bit more.
Then I used the virtualPhotographer plug-in and chose the childhood preset.
After this I brought the edit into Noiseware and used the portrait preset to remove the noise.
Edited out the distracting tree branch in the foreground, shown in my last post.
Should have edited the shot in the first place.

How would you edit my picture posted below? Edit/process the picture above the way you would normally process it and post it back below. This is a fun way to see how one photo can be shaped into SO many different looks!!! When your done feel free to post your "play" but then post one of your SOOC photos on your stream and then ask "How would YOU edit this?" and see what your friends come up with!! This is a fun way to practice editing, learning from others, and watch your own photos transform!! Have fun and can't wait to see your plays!

Had another look at this shot, mainly editing the levels, after a few suggestions from Flickr members.
"Your thoughts are much appreciated! :)
Went out yesterday with Hannah Duckworth and Rosie Spedding, to Lowther Gardens, Lytham, to do a Dance shoot.
Considering it was forecast to rain, the lighting was amazing - the sun was out, nice and bright!
Happy days..!
This is actually a candid shot of Hannah, I caught it just as she turned around after looking at the pond. :)"
