The water vapor was very cool, too bad I had a crummy lens on.
Edit: See Contrail Creation #2 on Wikipedia for a discussion of this effect: "The wings of an airplane cause a drop in air pressure in the vicinity of the wing (this is partly what allows a plane to fly). This drop in air pressure brings with it a drop in temperature, which can cause water to condense out of the air and form a contrail but only at higher altitudes. At lower altitudes, this phenomenon is also known as Ectoplasm. Ectoplasm is more commonly seen during high energy manouvers like those of a fighter jet, or on jet liners during takeoff and landing, at areas of very low pressure, including over the wings, and often around turbo-fan intakes on takeoff."
30 years after Ghostbusters took the world by storm, the beloved franchise makes its long-awaited return. Director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today - Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world!

This is the Old US Customs house in Lower Manhattan's Bowling Green.
You may be familiar with this building as it has appeared in several blockbuster movies including 'Ghostbusters 2' as the 'Manhattan Museum Of Art' where a painting of ancient Tyrant, Vigo The Carpathian hangs until he is unleashed upon New York in an insidious bid to take over the world. He is destroyed by the Ghostbusters who use the 'Statue Of Liberty', which has been animated by positively charged ectoplasmic slime and the song 'Higher' by Jackie Wilson, to smash through the skylight of Vigo's museum lair.
It is also used as the Ritz Gotham in 'Batman Forever' - a movie which I shamelessly still enjoy thanks to Jim Carrey's excellent performance as 'The Riddler'.

Radiolarians are unicellulars of diameter 0.1–0.2 mm that produce intricate mineral skeletons, typically with a central capsule dividing the cell into the inner and outer portions of endoplasm and ectoplasm. The elaborate mineral skeleton is usually made of silica. They are found as zooplankton throughout the ocean, and their skeletal remains make up a large part of the cover of the ocean floor as siliceous ooze. Due to their rapid turn-over of species, they represent an important diagnostic fossil found from the Cambrian onwards. (Source: Wikipedia)

Dear friends and visitors,
I have to tell you that I’m no longer updating my photostream at a regular rate. My last upload was some months ago and since then I even haven’t had time to thank you for your comments and faves. It was a pretty busy year for me and next year will be not any different. Over the last years, you’ve made my stream a real success by loads of faves and comments and invitations to groups and I’m very grateful for that. However, there came a time when coping with these social media activities put more and more a strain on me and I had to make a decision, i.e. whether I should either neglect my professional and private life or my flickr stream. On the other hand, I didn’t cease to take pictures (NEVER – just scrap it, dude) and actually, I like to show them to other people.
So I’m now trying to establish such a thing as an, mhm, unsocial media agreement with you, and it goes like this: If you like one of my pics – thanx a lot, but don’t fave it and don’t comment on it. If you do it nevertheless, please don’t expect an answer or an reciprocal fave, because it might take months before I check my stream the next time and by then, my activities list will show nilch.
I wish you the very best, and may the gods of light and art be yith you!

A litle darker imagery that what i'm used to posting. Just thought since it's 365 I might as well be experimental. Or maybe just mental.

Luci accese e gente spenta, dunque.
I got to see this comet! It was a truly spectacular sight.

Suzanne Treister, HEXEN 2.0 Historical Diagrams, 2009-2011
Historical Diagrams, 29.7 x 42cm, Cybernetic Séance, 21 x 29.7cm. Archival giclée prints on Hahnemuhle Bamboo paper. All works courtesy the artist and Annely Juda Fine Art, London
The works Historical Diagrams and Cybernetic Séance are part of the larger project HEXEN 2.0, which looks into histories of scientific research behind government programmes of mass control, investigating parallel histories of countercultural and grass roots movements. HEXEN 2.0 charts, within a framework of post-WWII U.S. governmental and military imperatives, the coming together of scientific and social sciences through the development of cybernetics, the history of the internet, the rise of Web 2.0 and increased intelligence gathering, and implications for the future of new systems of societal manipulation towards a control society. HEXEN 2.0 specifically investigates the participants of the seminal Macy Conferences (1946-1953), whose primary goal was to set the foundations for a general science of the workings of the human mind. The project simultaneously looks at diverse philosophical, literary and political responses to advances in technology including the claims of Anarcho-Primitivism and Post Leftism, Theodore Kaczynski/The Unabomber, Technogaianism and Transhumanism, and traces precursory ideas such as those of Thoreau, Warren, Heidegger and Adorno in relation to visions of utopic and dystopic futures from science-fiction literature and film.

The hutch is filled with all kinds of curious, enchanted, and spooky (eek!) eye candy, such as: a skull wrapped in what seems to be ectoplasm; skeleton’s bones being cooked; fairy portals, which may indeed lead to the Fairy Rhelm; bottles of Wizard supplies; a crystal ball; a scrying ball; books; a metal plate with more possible “Wizard secret symbols”; and what looks like a funerary urn. Gosh, I wonder whose ashes are in there!
I make my hutches one at a time… from start to finish. There is no assembly line in my workshop. No elves either. For this reason, this is truly one-of a-kind. I keep no written “recipes” for the color or instructions for the items I create to put into/on my hutches. Pieces on this hutch are from nature or created at the time I was working on it from materials at hand at that time.

Added a layer to the ectoplasm recipe, using Caliban Green as a buffer between the blue-black shading and the mid tones. I also tweaked the final highlight by mixing white ink and Pallid Wych Flesh to get sharper lines. They still spread and I spent a while on the cleaning up.
The robes are just blocked in with Mechanicus Standard Grey, and the trim is Khorne Red.
I love all those "OMG I TOTALY TOOK A PITCURE OF A GHOSTSSS!!!11" images. Flash backscatter, breath condensation, camera straps, stray hairs, fingers in front of the lens... well here's a real ghost for you. BOO! :-)
This "ghost" is taking a stroll down the College Run trail at Chippokes Plantation State Park in Surry, VA. The washed out area on his mouth was supposed to be his tongue sticking out, but I guess I pointed the flashlight too directly at the camera and it flared out. Oh well.
If you look at the background, you'll notice the glow of headlights coming up around the hill. I'm surprised I didn't have a ranger coming out there to ask me just what precisely the h3ll I thought I was doing. :-D

Many thanks to Ed Gilvarte for inspiration of the title.
(I thought of this as the notice board of an institution.)
The outer side of a jellyfish is lined with a jelly-like material called ectoplasm (ecto meaning outer and plasma meaning cytoplasm). The ectoplasm typically contains a smaller amount of protein granules and other organic compounds than inner cytoplasm, also referred to as endoplasm (endo meaning inner).
Location: Monterey Aquarium was taken in December 2003.
