This mysterious collection of images have been discovered within the photographic collections of Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.

Reference: TWCMS -H13098-73-6

The lantern slides are from a series titled 'Psychic Photography From A New Angle' and feature eerie images of the supposedly paranormal and unknown forces caught on camera.

Very little is known of the origins of this collection. The slides were designed to accompany a lecture by a Mr C.P. MacCarthy of 15 Wilkinson Street, Sheffield.

Mr MacCarthy produced the images under test conditions in 1934 in front of an invited committee at 76 Clarkehouse Road, Sheffield. He states the intention was to ‘demonstrate under test conditions Fake Psychic Photography’ to this committee.

Mr MacCarthy states his three reasons for this demonstration.

1.To prove the possibility of Fake under test conditions.

2.To show you cannot be too critical of such phenomena.

3.To indicate the increasing scope for fraud with the probability of genuine spirit photography.

Mr MacCarthy further guarantees ‘in the sum of five pounds, payable to any charitable institution, that no collusion exists, or has existed between myself and any other party in connection with this demonstration.’

Little is currently known of the Psychic demonstration. Who sat on the invited committee? Who was Mr MacCarthy? Why was he investigating Psychic Photography?

These are micro (macro) photographs of the deep interiors of my roses.

If you ever wanted to know what was going on underneath all of those beautiful petals, now you know.

The colors, as bright and saturated as they appear, are authentic, and the textures are natural; nothing has been added or altered in post-processing.

Man ascendent while destroying the planet for humans.

At my club the other evening we had a technical evening - difficult for me as I'm by no means technical. I decided to play with some Christmas lights, a candle and a few bokeh effects, subsequently modified in Photoshop Elements. Here are the results, with a couple of pretentious but, I think quite apposite titles.

The brand new and all-female Ghostbusters crew will drive this 80s Cadillac hearse wagon according to director Paul Feig’s tweet published last night. Yeah or meh?

The original car was famously a 1959 Cadillac, already an old car by the time the film made its debut in 1984. The new one is also old-school, it’s a 1980s Cadillac Fleetwood Station Wagon. Think it’s destined to be a classic too?

The movie supposed to hit the screens next summer starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones wearing the jumpsuits, while Chris Hemsworth takes care of the calls as their secretary. According to Comingsoon, it will also feature Andy Garcia as the Mayor of NYC, Niel Casey as the villain, The Wire’s Michael K. Williams as “Hawkins” and Matt Walsh as “Rouke”.

Paul Feig’s team is currently shooting the film in New York before relocating to Boston to finish it off.

As for the ladies, they don’t just have to drive a big ass Cadillac around the busy city, but also carry some rather heavy backpacks to work.

Reservoir Dogs for the knitwear enthusiast.

- God, also known as Yahweh, had a wife named Asherah, according to a British theologian.

- Amulets, figurines, inscriptions and ancient texts, including the Bible, reveal Asherah's once prominent standing.

God had a wife, Asherah, whom the Book of Kings suggests was worshiped alongside Yahweh in his temple in Israel, according to an Oxford scholar.

In 1967, Raphael Patai was the first historian to mention that the ancient Israelites worshiped both Yahweh and Asherah. The theory has gained new prominence due to the research of Francesca Stavrakopoulou, who began her work at Oxford and is now a senior lecturer in the department of Theology and Religion at the University of Exeter.

Information presented in Stavrakopoulou's books, lectures and journal papers has become the basis of a three-part documentary series, now airing in Europe, where she discusses the Yahweh-Asherah connection.

"You might know him as Yahweh, Allah or God. But on this fact, Jews, Muslims and Christians, the people of the great Abrahamic religions, are agreed: There is only one of Him," writes Stavrakopoulou in a statement released to the British media. "He is a solitary figure, a single, universal creator, not one God among many … or so we like to believe."

"After years of research specializing in the history and religion of Israel, however, I have come to a colorful and what could seem, to some, uncomfortable conclusion that God had a wife," she added.

Stavrakopoulou bases her theory on ancient texts, amulets and figurines unearthed primarily in the ancient Canaanite coastal city called Ugarit, now modern-day Syria. All of these artifacts reveal that Asherah was a powerful fertility goddess.

Asherah's connection to Yahweh, according to Stavrakopoulou, is spelled out in both the Bible and an 8th century B.C. inscription on pottery found in the Sinai desert at a site called Kuntillet Ajrud.

"The inscription is a petition for a blessing," she shares. "Crucially, the inscription asks for a blessing from 'Yahweh and his Asherah.' Here was evidence that presented Yahweh and Asherah as a divine pair. And now a handful of similar inscriptions have since been found, all of which help to strengthen the case that the God of the Bible once had a wife."

Also significant, Stavrakopoulou believes, "is the Bible's admission that the goddess Asherah was worshiped in Yahweh's Temple in Jerusalem. In the Book of Kings, we're told that a statue of Asherah was housed in the temple and that female temple personnel wove ritual textiles for her."
