Didn't have a solar filter, so used about 3 negatives over the camera lens. Far from ideal, but better than damaged eyes...

Total eclipse as seen from Belton, South Carolina. The solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 was a total eclipse visible within a band across the entire contiguous United States. Not since the February 1979 eclipse had a total eclipse been visible from anywhere in the mainland United States.
So, the eclipse was clouded over ALL night until 5am and then it was almost over, but I took a few semi-crappy shots anyway. I didn't have a tripod with me, and the area is very light-polluted.
Note: Also I was exhausted from waking up every hour to see if the clouds had gone away, lol

The Lothian Volvo B7RLE fleet with Wright Eclipse Urban bodywork are a familiar sight on the 30 service from Clovenstone to Musselburgh. They are also being repainted into the new (old?) madder livery at a rapid rate. Here 106 is seen in Princes Street in July 2010.
Singapore was not the best place to capture this eclipse, as it started around 4.15pm local time, when the moon is still below the horizon. With the clouds and haze, the moon was first seen around 7.45pm, where the total eclipse had already ended so my images only start from the partial eclipse after.

A shot captured this morning in my back garden of the solar eclipse! I think it was worth being dragged out of bed for!!!
Lunar eclipses are fantastic to experience and, fortunately, they are a whole lot easier to observe than their solar counterparts.
Unlike solar eclipses, you don't need to be in a specific place to see them -- so long as you can see the moon then you can enjoy the eclipse. Also unlike solar eclipses, you don't need any special equipment to observe them.
Well, as luck would have it, in just a few hours, there will be a lunar eclipse for you to feast your eyes on. It takes place on Dec. 10, but if you miss it, the next one isn't until 2014!

BACKSTORY:
Today I completely forgot about the lunar eclipse and was reminded at work. Lucky for me I bring my camera everywhere I go, unforunately I only had my prime 50mm lens with me. Needless to say, this is when you have to start getting clever. I had to ask myself "What shot can I possibly get with a prime lens of an object that's thousands of miles away and have it still look good?"
These shots (1 of 3) were what I came up with. I used the same composition in all three just to make sure I got the shot right. I then left for home and grabbed my 18-200 to take more while it was still out.
In the end, I still don't have the proper equipment to get a closeup shot of the moon, I'll leave that to the other millions of cliche shots of the moon that other professionals have taken
