Partial Eclipse of Sun
When I thought about the forecasted sun eclipse I was at a strip mall having dinner. I rushed out and grabbed my camera and went behind the mall. A security guard from Target came by and asked if he could help me and I said "no". I then proceeded to tell him that I was going to take photos of the sun and he told me where to go at the back of the property to have a better view of the sunset. I thanked him and went to the new location. It was great, except for all the highline wires. I know they can be eliminated in Photoshop, but Photoshop is not my friend. LOL. I saw another photographer about 100 yards from me using a tripod. I looked at my exposure and I was shooting ISO 100 and it was reading about 1/500 second and f/13-20. So, I decided hand holding would be just fine. It turns out that the other people were photographers from a TV station. I wonder what they did about the wires?
I was a little tired of my more than a little creepy self-portrait being on top of my photostream, so I went back for some leftovers from the eclipse shoot.
This was taken after the full eclipse had already started and the skies over Lewisville got hopelessly cloudy. I came down from the top of the garage where this shot was taken from, and I was ready to go back home. It's the same location where this shot was taken, only this time with a slightly wider lens.
The sky (the clouds, really) had the reddish glow from the eclipse, but I struggled again with the white balance. The original (Auto) was too bland, but I didn't want it to be too warm, either. In the end, I realized that the entire foreground, including the trees, is illuminated by the fluorescent light coming from the windows of the business building I was leaning against. So, I switched the WB to fluorescent and made it a little brighter... and here we are.
Lunar Eclipse on September 27, 2015, and we finally got a fairly clear sky in San Diego to view one!
Coming out of total eclipse. The sun was rising and so the sky was lightening up. It went below the tree line before it got much further than this.

The trees outside Kevin's apartment act as many pinhole cameras, throwing hundreds of partial-eclipse images against the side of the building in a dappled effect.
