It has been ten years, and The Old Joes Choir has come a long way, evolving musically, and as an entity that continues to enthral its public. A decade of dabbling, experimenting and extending the boundaries and limits of sound and music has stood in good stead, enabling a group of talented and committed individuals hone and perfect something they were already good at.
It was in 1997 that The Old Joes Choir embarked upon their musical journey; a voyage that has augured well and ushered in positive change, along with a loyal audience, fans of choral music, who have stood by them through the last ten years of evolution. Thus, it is only right that The Old Joes Choir pay tribute to their loyal, unwavering fans, and their decade old journey, through a musical celebration of the last ten years.
You are welcomed to witness a unique event, involving diversity in sound and style, in celebration of a ten year old journey, as The Old Joes Choir embarks upon a voyage of rediscovery; an expedition that will strike at the very core of their musical soul. Sit back, relax, and prepare to be enthralled, as they go back to their roots to present you with our Timeless Echoes.
Echo Basin Rd heads NE from US-160 a few miles east of Mancos into the foothills and SW flanks of the LaPlata Mtns. After a few miles the RV's have turned off at the Echo Basin Resort, and the road climbs up into the Aspens and makes a 10-mile loop with views of Hesperus Mtn and other LaPlatas. While one would think that "Echo Basin" refers to this high altitude amphitheatre ringed by the barren ridgeline, but that is Owens Basin and the nearer area in the foreground owns the Echo Basin name.

Although you cannot really see from this picture, the wall curved all the way around the temple and is meant to carry the echo right to other side. I think there was a few too many tourists to see whether it actually worked or not though!
I love the bumpy, texture of the quilt after washing.
Made with Echo by Lotta Jansdotter and Kona Charcoal for the sashing and binding. The back is a fabric from Ikea. The pattern is by Sarah from Narcoleptic in a Cupboard and I am finally finished the Stained QAL. It is about 42" x 52".

My folks live near Glen Echo Amusement Park (well, that's what it used to be called). It was a great amusement park from the turn of the previous century through the sixties. It has a lot of wonderful deco buildings and signage. Now it is a National Park that offers classes and workshops, but it still keeps some of its old elements. The only ride that's left is the carousel, which is a beauty.
Glen Echo has a long and interesting history. I didn't get to go there very often as a child, for some very good reasons.
