I love the bumpy, texture of the quilt after washing.
Made with Echo by Lotta Jansdotter and Kona Charcoal for the sashing and binding. The back is a fabric from Ikea. The pattern is by Sarah from Narcoleptic in a Cupboard and I am finally finished the Stained QAL. It is about 42" x 52".

Meet Beatrice. She lives on the streets in downtown Calgary.
Although initially reluctant, she warmed up to us and relaxed as we took pictures. She had been on the streets for a number of years, of course experiencing the tragedies and horrors and medical issues of that life.
We gave her some money in exchange for her story and time, which she insisted I
could not afford. Little did she know how embarrassed I was about how easily I could afford it.
We walked further exploring other areas and soon Beatrice approached, full of something trying to burst out of her. She whispered in my ear that she wanted to tell me something but also did not want me to be mad. I assured her that I would not.
She explained that we had given her more than she needed that day and so she had broken the bill left with her and shared it with one of her friends. She was so happy and excited to be able to have enough to give away. She shared that she was so terribly lonely on the streets but felt that she had made a friend in me and that was the best day she could remember having.
With tears in my eyes I hugged her hard and wished her well.
I have since looked for her the few times I have been back to Calgary in the downtown area but have not yet come across her again. Perhaps this summer.

Another one of those things we just happened across on the drive through New Mexico - Echo Canyon. There was just a little State Marker and a sign, so we stopped for a look-see - and a shout.
The echo really was remarkable, and it was a really good chance to get out and stretch the legs. It also produced what was for me the most memorable picture from the entire trip - the one of Jo Ann standing inside the arch of the echo-producing concave "chip" out of the hillside.
Echo pond. Toward the end of the shoot. It was really foggy/overcast, but I like the lines in this one.
