Timeless Echoes

The Highlights of a Decade Long Musical Journey

Presented By: The Old Joes Choir

30th and 31st of August 2008 at The British School Auditorium

It has been ten years, and The Old Joes Choir has come a long way, evolving musically, and as an entity that continues to enthral its public. A decade of dabbling, experimenting and extending the boundaries and limits of sound and music has stood in good stead, enabling a group of talented and committed individuals hone and perfect something they were already good at.

It was in 1997 that The Old Joes Choir embarked upon their musical journey; a voyage that has augured well and ushered in positive change, along with a loyal audience, fans of choral music, who have stood by them through the last ten years of evolution. Thus, it is only right that The Old Joes Choir pay tribute to their loyal, unwavering fans, and their decade old journey, through a musical celebration of the last ten years.

You are welcomed to witness a unique event, involving diversity in sound and style, in celebration of a ten year old journey, as The Old Joes Choir embarks upon a voyage of rediscovery; an expedition that will strike at the very core of their musical soul. Sit back, relax, and prepare to be enthralled, as they go back to their roots to present you with our Timeless Echoes.

This Toyota Echo created by Lasse Deleuran has instructions on his website: c-mt.dk. I really like vehicles that are completely covered by windows, so I decided to build it with the pieces I had. The model itself turned out to be way smaller than I thought it was!

Echo is the first in the Groundworks series to be featured on a Vintage Reserve label. It appears on the 2011 Gundlach Bundschu Vintage Reserve.

A solitary ridge rising against a silent sky — captured in pure black and white to reveal the raw texture and timeless character of the landscape.

In the absence of color, every fracture of the rock, every grain of light and shadow becomes a story of resilience. This frame was crafted with a 16:9 composition to emphasize the sweeping slope and the powerful geometry of the mountain.

A minimalistic, high-contrast interpretation of nature’s quiet strength.

Almost back to the top, the sun is almost down, and we've given up (well, one of us has) trying to communicate using only the lyrics from "Mexican Radio".

"Are you hungry yet?"

"I wish I was in Tijuana, eating barbecued iguana."

and like that.

Six Days Seven Nights, New Beetle - Day 2: Chiricahua National Monument.

We made a loop out of the Ed Riggs trail and the Hailstone trail, returning via the Echo Canyon trail. Hoodoos, gnarly trees, and a raven aerial ballet, and to top it all off, a singing canyon wren. In November. A Fan-freakin-tastic hike overall. One or two photos didn't seem like enough, walking among the hoodoos was very cool indeed. So instead of posting one or two shots, here's a photo tour of the route.

We had no plans for Thanksgiving except to stay home in the unseasonable cold so Mrs M took a few personal days off. Armed with reservations via Hotwire (you never know what you're going to get) and a rental car, we set out for a new 7 days, 6 nights adventure.

Made it to the Echo Phone! 120 years ago on July 4th, the Echo Mountain House hotel/chalet/observatory opened up. Only the concrete foundations and pieces of railway are left now, but hiking up here on the 4th to see the fireworks shows below (and you can see ALL of them) has been a local thing.
