Due to a massive landslide, the D&RGW main line in Thistle, Utah was shut down for 90 days while the track was rerouted around the blockage. During that service disruption, Union Pacific forwarded Rio Grande trains between Ogden and Denver.
Rio Grande intermodal train No. 100 glides eastward on Union Pacific's Overland Route at the west end of Echo, Utah. Service would be restored on the D&RGW beginning on July 4, 1983.

It's that magical time of year at Echo Ridge. Fires are lit and cabins are warm as the snow starts to fall on the evergreen forests. Hear the ice sing under the setting sun and make a wish upon a shooting star.

That whole house is devoted to karaoke - and actually Big Echo is a brand name that you will see all over the Tokyo (and I would hazard a guess that they are quite popular outside of that city too). There are a lot of karaoke places as such, and Big Echo is the biggest one. They are owned by the Daiichi Kosho Company (founded in 1973 - which specialises in karaoke equipment).
The "evening stack train" in Echo does not contain only ONE container even if the lettering pretends this. Also, two locos where present, one GE (AC4400CW 6635) and EMD (SD70M 5227).
The Echo Point Hut was built by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service in 1962. Sitting in the final stages of the 82 km (51 mi) Overland Track between Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair the often bypassed wooden hut remains in service in its original state and sleeps 8 people. Echo FINALLY got to experience a proper snowfall - at the age of 2 - Only problem is, it is officially Spring.....

When I woke on this morning, my back was aching badly. I'm getting way too old for tent camping even with an air mattress.
Anyway, I crawled out of the tent and headed for my car. My thinking was to drive away from the campsites and crank the heated seats to full in an attempt to put an end to my Quasimodo impersonation.
I didn't get very far before I saw this site.
The sun was just beginning to crest over the cliff edge at the lake and the fog looked amazing! There was a layer of it sliding along the water surface, sure. But up on the cliff top it was billowing up and then cascading over the edge like some freaky slow motion waterfall. Thinking about it now, I should have tried out the video function on my D600 as a still image can't capture what I saw that morning.
I was shocked that I was completely alone for this show as it really wasn't all THAT early and there are campsites less than 100 yards from here. Probably for the best though because I bet I looked pretty ridiculous scrambling around with my gear in "hunchback" mode.

Unter einer Bahnbrücke erstreckt sich ein wilder Teppich aus Farben, Formen und Botschaften – die Sprache der Straße, eingefroren auf Beton. Massive Pfeiler teilen das Bild in rhythmische Segmente, als wären sie Taktgeber eines urbanen Herzschlags. Jedes einzelne trägt seine eigene Geschichte, aufgetragen in Schichten von Graffiti – teils frisch, teils verblasst, wie Echos vergangener Nächte.
Im Hintergrund rauscht ein Zug vorbei, unscharf, schnell, fast geisterhaft – als wäre er ein flüchtiger Gedanke inmitten des festen, greifbaren Chaos’ der Wände. Die Kombination aus Stillstand und Bewegung, aus Beton und Farbe, erzählt von Rebellion, Kreativität und dem ewigen Wandel des städtischen Lebens.
„Urbanes Echo“ fängt diesen Moment zwischen Lärm und Stille ein – ein visueller Nachklang dessen, was Menschen hier hinterlassen haben. Kunst, die kommt und geht, genau wie die Züge, die auf den Gleisen darunter vorbeirauschen.
Beneath a railway bridge stretches a wild carpet of colors, shapes, and messages - the language of the street, frozen in concrete. Massive pillars divide the image into rhythmic segments, as if they were the metronomes of an urban heartbeat. Each one carries its own story, layered with graffiti - some fresh, some faded, like echoes of nights gone by.
In the background, a train rushes by, blurred, fast, almost ghostly - as if a fleeting thought amidst the solid, tangible chaos of the walls. The combination of stillness and movement, of concrete and color, speaks of rebellion, creativity, and the eternal flux of urban life.
"Urban Echo" captures this moment between noise and silence - a visual reverberation of what people have left behind here. Art that comes and goes, just like the trains that rush past on the tracks below.

Echo consists of 4 rings that can move each in 360 degrees of freedom. While one ring is motorized the others react to the slightest disbalance to create a complex set of movements.
ECHO is made for the new building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BZ), the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (IenM), the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) designed by OMA Architects.
Echo is 24h a day visible from the Turfmarkt, right next to Central Station, in The Hague and looks especially good in the afternoon sun.
Constructional design by CEEMO engineering & MGTS based on an initial design by Movares.
