I was meaning to head out to the Central Coast for sunrise shoot but somehow I ended up in the Blue Mountains haha.

With the view, I couldn't really complain from my mistake.

Echo at the Wind river on a September morning.

It's always therapeutic to get away from the crowds and find the solitude of the open country, but it's worth remembering that much of the wilderness we take for granted wasn't always empty. Once upon a time, the fields were alive with people, the glens were home to living communities and the hills were littered with early industry. "Echos" is a collection of ghosts of a lost world.

I know it's out of fashion

And a trifle uncool

But I can't help it

I'm a romantic fool

It's a habit of mine

To watch the sun go down

On Echo beach, I watch the sun go down

From nine till five I have to spend my time at work

The job is very boring, I'm an office clerk

The only thing that helps pass the time away

Is knowing I'll be back at Echo Beach some day

On a silent summer evening

The sky's alive with light

Building in the distance

Surrealistic sight

On Echo Beach

Waves make the only sound

On Echo Beach

There's not a soul around

From nine till five I have to spend my time at work

The job is very boring, I'm an office clerk

The only thing that helps pass the time away

Is knowing I'll be back at Echo Beach some day

School days for kids and puppies as Echo attends her first puppy class tonight. Not sure if they'll allow owner to take pics....I'll probably just carry my point & shoot to be discreet and snap a few pics if allowed. It will be interesting to see how Echo does around other puppies. The first of many months of classes for her.

Trees are rapidly turning colors--it looks a lot like Fall these days.

Well, a return to Amsterdam (not recently that is) and looking through my archives there are still a number of images I have to upload so I might as well include KLM wide-bodies since this is now officially the old colour scheme.

With KLM no longer operating the MD-11, it is now left to the Airbus A330 fleet to operate a large portion of international flights alongside the Boeing 747's and Boeing 777's. Also, let's not forget KLM is due to receive their first Boeing 787 later this year whilst the airline is due to take in the Airbus A350 from 2019.

Currently, KLM have 17 Airbus A330's in its fleet, 12 of which are on the Airbus A330-200 whilst 5 are on the Airbus A330-300. There are now currently no further Airbus A330's on-order with KLM, turning their attention to the Boeing 787.

Oscar Echo is one of 12 Airbus A330-200's in KLM's fleet, delivered new to the airline in August 2006 and she is powered by 2 General Electric CF6-80E1A3 engines.

Airbus A330-203 PH-AOE 'Parliament Square - Edinburgh' powers out of Runway 36L 'Polderbaan' at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) on KL677 to Calgary (YYC).

Went on a photoshoot with a work associate and took pictures of this little guy and his big brother. This is Echo, he is a husky mixed with wolf and malamute.

UP 5883 leads a loaded grain train through the small town of Echo, UT. In the background, the sign for Frank's Gas/Cafe/Motel can be seen. Once a bustling spot for travelers before Interstate 84 rerouted travelers from this gem of an American town.

This cosplayer made me very happy. I'm big fan of two cosplay areas: third- or lower-tiered characters; and believable/realistic portrayals. I like the fact - an even encourage - that anyone can cosplay anyone else but taking it to a higher level just pleases me to no end. Echo was a Marvel character who had "photographic reflexes." If she saw it, she could copy it; a very useful skill when it came to hand-to-hand fighting.

Los Angeles is a phony, unsustainable oasis, a lush garden in the desert that blooms only because of stolen water. Or so the story goes. The last part is arguably true: All cities import water, but Mulholland famously took it from the poor farmers of the once-fertile Owens Valley. But was native L.A. a desert? Not really -- while its exurbs have leapt over the San Gabriel range into the rainshadow beyond (aka the Mojave), closer to the coast the climate is Mediterranean, more akin to Athens than Phoenix, and Spanish explorers described a verdant valley. That's not to say water was abundant: Dammed in 1870, Echo Park Lake itself was L.A.'s first reservoir, a real estate scheme in the hills northwest of what was then a city of 6,000.

Backstory:

Drone Haven, a city long abandoned by humanity, stands as a haunting testament to the fleeting importance of humankind in the grand narrative of nature. Rusted skyscrapers rise from fractured earth, their decayed frames wrapped in vines and moss, bearing witness to nature’s quiet reclamation. Faded posters and graffiti whisper a warning from a forgotten era: “The End is Near!” On the city’s outskirts, a survivalist camp briefly clung to life. Dreamers and pragmatists built it as humanity’s final stand, cultivating gardens and creating shelters in defiance of the inevitable. Yet disease, dwindling resources, and discord proved stronger than their resolve. The camp fell silent, overtaken by creeping greenery, its remnants a poignant symbol of resilience overshadowed by decline. At the city’s heart lies the ruins of a once-famous butcher shop, its walls weathered and its windows shattered. Moss softens its rusted fixtures, and vines snake through every crevice. Outside, the grim message echoes: “The End is Near!” This decaying relic serves as a stark reminder of human hubris and the fragile nature of survival. Amid the ruins, drones roam like spectral caretakers. Left by their creators, these machines continue to perform their programmed duties, planting native flora during their annual Echocycle rituals. They maintain Drone Haven as a paradox—a city simultaneously embodying human ambition and nature’s enduring dominance. Yet even the drones are not eternal. As creations of humankind, they too are bound by the finite nature of energy. Like their creators, they will eventually exhaust their resources and cease to function. This juxtaposition—humanity’s ephemeral existence and its legacy in the mechanical species it forged—underscores the fragility of all things, natural or artificial. Drone Haven whispers a layered tale: a reminder that humanity, for all its self-importance, is but a fleeting presence in the face of nature’s vast, enduring cycles. In its rusted beams and flowering vines, it reflects on collapse, resilience, and the inescapable truth that all energy is finite and ultimately consumed.

Join us for an unforgettable celebration of resilience, creativity, and the enduring beauty of sound amidst the ruins.

“I learned that just beneath the surface there's another world, and still different worlds as you dig deeper. I knew it as a kid, but I couldn't find the proof. It was just a kind of feeling. There is goodness in blue skies and flowers, but another force-a wild pain and decay-also accompanies everything.” - David Lynch (RIP)

The Echo Amphitheater is located in Rio Arriba County of New Mexico. It is approximately 4 miles from Ghost Ranch and 17 miles from Abiquiu, NM.

A natural sandstone wind cave, it sits in a formation of other sandstone bluffs and mesas totaling approximately 1/2 mile in length.

This image is not of the actual Amphitheater, but is a part of the formation in which it exists. It is a cliff face which appears to be formed by a fracture and is approximately 300 feet from the top to the ground.
