Civil War battle reenactment in Georgia, Brown's Mill Battle Field.

Union Army fires on the Confederate position.

The Battle of Brown's Mill was fought July 30, 1864, in Coweta County, Georgia, during the Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War.

Edward M. McCook's Union cavalry, on a daring raid to sever communications and supply lines in south-central Georgia, was defeated near Newnan, Georgia, by Confederate forces under Joseph Wheeler. The failure of McCook's column and a concurrent ill-fated raid by George Stoneman forced William T. Sherman to lay siege to the city of Atlanta. (Wikipedia)

9 weeks old. Super busy all the time. Potty & crate training in progress. Both going reasonably well. Her "teething" is going strong.....her razor sharp puppy teeth need to be chomping down on something all the time.

Hello! A bright spring ahead to my foreign friends☀ Well, it's the height of summer in the Philippines.,, and election fever is making it more hot here. To my Filipino friends,,, vote wisely!!!!

The very first person I spotted at the beach on Holy Week vacation... no less than Filipino actor and heartthrob Jericho Rosales aka Echo. He played the role of Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao in a film. I was thinking I might not see him again.Gosh, I was still in the car, right across the street, and I immediately got out and asked permission if I could take a photo of him. He was originally seated... OMG, he posed for me!! He is the de facto Philippine ambassador of surfing. I shot him surfing, too -- my most popular blog post since Friday evening. I put a watermark because if somebody steals this at least my name is on it. LOL starstruck! Thanks, Echo!!

Wikipedia info: Echo started with a low yet dignified job. He persevered on giving his best to achieve success in life which made him a prominent personality now. Having grown-up in poverty, he learned to be simple until one day he was discovered.

To my dear friend Renate... thanks:)

I'm okay... sort-of busy that it's getting difficult for me to squeeze in flickering.

Do you remember when they lived there?

It was filled with warmth and light

and music

and laughter.

It seemed that everyone loved them and

Oh! how they loved each other!

We all went to see them

and wished that we could be them.

Now there's nothing there

but dark and dusty echoes.

I saw this yesterday whilst helping a mate on a photoshoot. I tried a few images but it was not happening so went back today and got this. The image suggests to me many things - what do you think?

Amanda carved this awesome Sacred Geometry Flower of Life pumpkin last night and we decided to showcase it by doing a little light painting. We are pretty weird folks and we started decorating for Halloween at the beginning of September. We setup this little graveyard in the dirt that is our yard and strung a bunch of fake cobwebs through several of the cedar trees that surround our house. When we went out last weekend to paint with Digicord, I gave them a set of RGB led keychains and they gave me one of their orange orb tools. I really am thrilled to have this thing and to have acquired it from such a great artist is really an honor. Amanda has taken to practicing this shape and I think it works very well for her. She was in Color Guard in highschool and the wrist movements for this kind of light painting are very natural for her.

We used a custom built light gun that Amanda's dad, Bruce Ogletree, constructed when he was an active photographer. It's about 2 feet long and made of metal pipe. It has interchangeable snoots and filters that Bruce fashioned himself. It's got a powerful halogen bulb, an internal power supply, and a built in cooling fan that is sadly not working very effectively and we can only use it in cool weather. This light gun with a dark green Kola filter was used to paint the gravestones and the pumpkin.

"Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air

And deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral caves

The echo of a distant tide

Comes willowing across the sand

And everything is green and submarine

And no one showed us to the land

And no one knows the where's or why's

But something stirs and something tries

And starts to climb towards the light

Strangers passing in the street

By chance two separate glances meet

And I am you and what I see is me..."

Echo Lake at Frankonia Notch is looking low at the moment and we were able to walk along the lake shore for some of the way rather than using the trail. Actually the water level is low enough to allow us to walk all the way around the lake if we’d wanted to.

The subject of the video is some canned tomatoes I was cooking to put on spaghetti. The reverb effect was done with Cubase, and the video was shot with a Nikon D7000.

Through the windows of an old deserted hotel in S'Chanf, Engadine, Switzerland The trees in the white part are actually showing through the window of the other side of the hotel... I wanted to get a picture of them but this was the best view of them I could find.

Finally got around to taking some pictures of my new bike. It's the next generation of my old bike (which was stolen) and it's better in some ways and worse in others. It took me a while to dial it in, but now I'm extremely happy with the setup. The "Arcade" handlebar is new to the bike as of yesterday, so the vote's not in on that yet. Most importantly, however, I am thrilled to announce that I finally have some riding videos up on Youtube. You can check me and this bike in action with the following links:

amazing day in Austin!

A 10 minute exposure taken after midnight in Bon Echo provincial park. I laid beside the camera and looked at the millions of stars in the darkness while this exposed. The trees were in darkness but picked up some flashlights of wandering campers.

Its not my usual forte but I enjoyed the moment.

This was a request by Brandon Lima, who found this tidbit in the archive (click his name to see his work on the matter). Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, within this WFPC2 shaped chunk of space are two things of note. At the lower right and partially off the frame is the aptly named Honeycomb Nebula. Above that are two white arcs one might mistake for just another piece of cloud, but they are in fact light echos emanating from the nearby sn1987a. If you would like to see the light echo in action, click here.

Note: I increased the saturation of the colors. Greenish H-alpha is due to filter selection.
