Years ago there was a Subway sandwich shop in this building at E. 109th and Third Ave. in East Harlem.
Claudio's Barber Shop is one of the few remnants of East Harlem's days as Italian Harlem. Often referred to now as Spanish Harlem, East Harlem once had a significant Italian population. This place has apparently come under recent threat but seems to be surviving for now.

Though built by Italians, they worshipped in the lower church until 1919 (The Germans and Irish who paid for the church worshipped upstairs)

Photographed at El Museo del Barrio, the Upper East Side Museum that specializes in Latin American and Caribbean art, "Piragua Cart" is by Puerto Rican artist Edgar Ruiz Zapata. Piragua is a frozen treat similar to snow cones. According to the Museum's description, "Rescued from the streets, this piragua cart is a familiar sight during the summer in many neighborhoods, including East Harlem."
