In the six months the exhibition toured New Zealand approximately quarter of a million people were estimated to have viewed it.
After several years at the Museum of Transport and Technology, in Auckland, New Zealand, the spacecraft was returned to the United States. It is now on display at the Adler Planetarium, Chicago, Illinois.
NASA's ambitious but essential Gemini Program was culminated in November 1966 with the launch of Gemini 12 from Kennedy Space enter's Launch Complex 19. Gemini XII made 59 earth orbits and was the forerunner of the Apollo flights. The spacecraft was manned by Command Pilot Captain James A. Lovell Jnr U.S.N. and the pilot Lt. Col. Edwin E. Aldrin Jnr U.S.A.F. On three occasions during the orbits of the earth Edwin Aldrin left the capsule and floated in space beside the craft. He was attached to the capsule by a tether.
With the successful conclusion of the Gemini 12 mission, veteran astronaut Command Pilot James Lovell had set another new record with a total of 18 days in space, and Pilot Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin held the EVA duration record with an umbilical EVA at the Agena work station of 2 hours and 9 minutes. In all, three EVA (extra-vehicular activity) sessions were performed during the mission.

In the wrong category, most likely (though those that did win in the right category were boring kits rather than innovative/imaginative works. I swear, if I see one more Beatrix Potter alphabet sampler win I will scream (no offense to the artist of the Peter Rabbit quilt, that was beautiful)).
But it's on display for all to see. Hopefully it will bring a little bit of joy to those who read it.
