Sydney Royal Easter Show

Virginia Dodge and Clara Lee were the first women in Australia to ride the ‘Wall of Death’ on motorbikes. In fact, they were the only women in the world performing this stunt at the time. They arrived in Sydney in February 1938 to perform at the Royal Easter Show. Clara is pictured here performing at the show. In July, five months after they arrived, Virginia suffered a skull fracture when a tyre on her motorbike blew out at the top of the wall and she fell to the bottom.

Went to The Easter Show today, but I forgot to charge my D300 and my brother took my D40x, so Marky and I went with his D3000!

I didn't really take too many photos because it wasn't my camera, but I did borrow it to shoot this!.

Samyang 8mm fisheye!

It seemed very enjoyable, I wish I hopped on instead of taking so many pictures.

From Wikipedia:

"The Sydney Royal Easter Show, also known as the Royal Easter Show or simply The Show, is an annual show held in Sydney, Australia over two weeks around Easter. It is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales and was first held in 1823. Queen Victoria, (1837–1901), awarded the society and its show the right to use the word "Royal" in its name.

The Show is historically an event where "city meets country" and the rural industries of Australia can be shown and celebrated once a year.

The Show comprises an agricultural show, an amusement park and a fair and combines the elements of each, showcasing the judging of livestock and produce. This comprehensive fair has many competitions including arts and crafts, photography and cookery, as well as tests of strength and skill such as wood chopping. The Show also has shopping, restaurants, commercial stands and exhibits, a horticultural display, a national accredited conformation dog show and cat show, and stage and arena shows. The Show currently attracts over one million people per year.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is the largest event held in Australia, and the sixth largest in the world."

Your regrets, carried heavily, suddenly evaporate.

Easter show amusement for people of all ages. Is there anyone not smiling?

I like rides that go up and down -- even the fast ones like rollercoasters -- but you'll never get me in one of these spinning rides! The people inside (seen on a small monitor outside) looked positively nauseous! I like the name though ;)

District Exhibit Displays

The uniquely Australian District Exhibit displays provide a colourful, creative and captivating tapestry of the country's best produce.

The District Exhibit competition consists of five regions that represent Southern, Northern, Western, Central NSW and South East Queensland. The exhibits are the end result of a year of hard work by passionate agriculturalists, farmers and volunteers, who plan, source, collect, design and install the spectacular constructions for pre-Show judging. More than 50,000 pieces of fresh fruit, vegetables, grains, pulses, wool and other produce are used to create the exhibits.

It's our an annual tradition to head out to the Royal Easter Show at Olympic Park Sydney just after Easter. While the crowds are unavoidable there are so many highlights with the very best livestock, food displays, world class woodchopping and myriad rides, arts and craft and a whole of naughty treats to sample. The rides are a big draw for the kids and those young at heart and this wave swinger was super popular.
