This beautiful display decorated a shop. Almost everyone stopped to admire it & take photos. It created a lovely atmosphere as we were all smiling & talking to each other while waiting to take photos.

The crocuses are always on cue to arrive at Easter time & I'm sure it's more than coincidence that they just happen to be the perfect little Easter Egg shapes, with glowing golden yolk centers, & in the perfect display of Easter colors...Thank You Mother-Nature & Welcome Spring ! Easter Eggs are so much more than being a candy treat...they are symbolic for the 'Egg of Life'...the vessel that carries forth New Life & New Beginnings into the world. Easter is a time for Re-flection, Re-memberance, Re-birth, Re-juvination...~
May you 'All' Re-joice under the glorious full moon with those you hold dear...& may your Hearts be filled with LOve, Peace & Compassion during this Holy Holiday Easter weekend !!~

Every tradition, every myth, is based on a grain of truth...
Recent evidence suggests that the easter bunny originated somewhere in what was once the supercontinent Gondwana, 2000 to 2000000000 years ago.
Several factors were important in the creation of the easter bunny story:
- dinosaurs would lay their eggs at this time of year
- their eggs were nutritious
- prehistoric man would be really hungry after a long winter
- being male and hungry predisposed him to making stupid decisions e.g.. stealing dinosaur eggs
- ancient megafauna like megarabbit were slow moving and easy to kill, but not as nutritious as dinosaur eggs
- if you wore megabunny ears like a hat, it would make you (prehistoric man) appear bigger and thus scarier to dinosaurs, increasing your chance of successfully stealing dinosaur eggs and surviving to procreate another day from 1:32544756485 to 1:7362486346
- prehistoric man had not yet mastered statistics or critical thought.
With these well documented facts put together, we can now appreciate how the story of the "easter bunny" and "easter eggs" came to be.
Ofcourse, like all stories, it has changed somewhat over the years, but the main message of Easter has remained the same - chocolate eggs taste better than real eggs, but are far less nutritious.

We've a couple, or rather did have a couple, of bags in the house. Don't think the remaining bag will last long though.

Tapeti (Sylvilagus brasiliensis) - Cajas National Park, Ecuador
A Tapeti, also known as the Brazilian cottontail or forest cottontail from high up in the Ecuadorian Andes. These rabbits seemed plentiful up in the paramo but were also quite shy, probably for good reason as I did come across a partially eaten one when I was hiking. While the paramo (treeless zone high up in the Andes) is a harsh environment the rabbits seem to flourish there with the abundance of vegetation and grass to munch on. I'm pretty sure this little fella thought I couldn't see him, and I chose not to disillusion him instead I took a few photos and moved on. Happy Easter!

It is Easter morning, no children or grandchildren to hide eggs for...
I light the candles for our 'special' breakfast.
We always make breakfast special on the week-ends, but for some days a little extra special!
