It has been said that the lake is 'turning over'....A term used when the ice sinks to the bottom of the lake and the lake water 'turns over' and becomes the lake we know, fish in, swim in, etc. The ice on lac la hache is usually 2 to 3 feet thick...After the ice sinks, (Usually the way for lac la hache), they say many huge fish are either seen or caught....Until the lake 'turns over'. . I think the lake was 'turning over' the morning i took these photos.

Salvia lyrata

This plant forms large colonies and spreads easily. It is one of the earliest spring bloomers and can form lavendar meadows along roadsides. It is in the mint family, and the basal leaves have a shape similar to the old musical instrument the lyre.

Phlox divaricata

This is an evergreen perennial plant that blooms early in spring and will spread over time into these gorgeous masses of bloom. It grows naturally in deciduous forests, but I have some in my garden that now grow in the sun after the tree that shaded them fell, and they are doing fine.
