Conowingo Dam eagle from back in November. Hadn't been up for a number of years. I was there the day the tractor trailer went over the side of Conowingo Dam and plunged 80 feet to the bottom. The driver was killed.

One of my contacts mentioned shooting these stacks recently (Aug 2013)

Along German Church Rd is probably the best place to photograph them

Excelon's Byron Nuclear Generation Station's 495' tall cooling towers pumping out incredible amount of steam on a cold windy November afternoon. Both reactors were online and both cooling towers were dumping out huge steam plumes.

Electro Motive Division built only 15 of the EMD SW600 model. With it being only 600hp with a 6 cylinder 567C block most were sold to industrial operators or export. It is believed less than 5 or 6 are left active today. S&S Sales and Leasing # 30 was built for Philadelphia Electric and later went to work for Excelon Energy and FTRL Railway.Seen at MEI East St Louis IL on Dec 27th 2022 after overhaul and paint for its upcoming lease assignment to Nucor.

Lester stood on the southeast corner of LaSalle and Randolph by City Hall. I've seen him before downtown and finally was able to talk with him. The first thing I noticed before we even started talking is that this man has PRIDE. I mean, he knows who he is. Money doesn't define him. He knows he has value and talent and worth before he wakes up in the morning. Just looking at him, the way he was dressed and his hat spoke volumes. We started talking and Lester is just "lit up". He has a big smile on his face and says, "I'm getting off the street with the Lord's help--I'm giving it up!" He said he just got a job with Excelon as a salesman. He was so motivated and happy. He said "you can't get rich off of (selling) Streetwise", although does help transition folks off the street. We both joked around saying "I hope I don't see you again". Whatever Lester does he will be a success and he will be a light to those around him, because he sure was for me.

This image was a collaboration between Sherwin Williams and Armstrong. It appears in both SW and Armstrong brochures.

not the greatest shot but a pretty rare unit. Less than 20 EMD SW600's were built and I am not sure how many remain. FTRL SW600 # 30 was built in May 1958 as Philadelphia Electric later to Excelon Energy. Seen in transit on UP at St Louis, MO after coming off lease to Doe Run Co. May 20th 2018

This was the stairway into our basement, before the remodel.

In a rare move, we catch the DME 3833 pushing this special "Rotor" toward the Byron Nuclear facility on the Chicago Great Western bridge over the Rock River in Byron, IL. Creeping along at a mere 10 m.p.h. the tracks are maintained yearly by Excelon in case large equipment such as this need to be delivered.

Special thanks to all of those who provided the information and updates on today's special move and delivery to the Byron nuclear plant.

Corkstyle Excelon Tile

You can see funhouse pinball in the back, and on the left is Toobin', a great Atari game from the late 80s. The floor came out really nice.

The DME 3833, a GP38-3 just delivered a special load to the Byron nuclear plant on the old CGW main, and is seen here starting it's return trip to Byron and the Canadian Pacific mainline.

It's a little blurry, but here I just finished laying the vinyl tile flooring. We used Armstrong Excelon tile. It comes in squares. My wife designed the pattern and I basically just followed it. This stuff is very easy to install. You trowel on the adhesive and then lay your vinyl tile. Once it's dry, you use a commercial grade sealer to give it a nice shine and protect it. You can see Tempest, Millipede, and Tron off to the right.

Here's a shot of the completed lower basement. Star Wars and the MAME cabinet are back in place. The settees cleaned up nicely. We used black paint to touch-up the sides.

Here's a shot from where funhouse pinball is situated. You can see how I tried to keep the pattern flowing from the lower basement to the upper basement at the step transition.

Top portion of a two-piece carton containing a vintage, 1964 set of sales-sample tiles labeled as: Armstrong EXCELON Tile - a vinyl-asbestos plastic tile service gauge. Additional printing indicates: Made in the United States of America by Armstrong, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Each miniature tile version measures 3"x3" and also has manufacturer's data imprinted on its reverse-side stating the tile's style line, pattern number, and pattern name.

Another shot of the lower basement. I tried to make the step-down look invisible from this angle. You can see a better show of Toobin' on the left. We used Armstrong Excelon floor tiles on the floor. This come in basic colors, but you can be creative with your design, as we were. Once installed, they're indestructible, and give a nice finished look.
