"The Concho County courthouse designed by architect, F.E. Ruffini and built in 1886 under the supervision of his brother Oscar, is a two-story structure of native stone. Built in the Second Empire style much favored for public buildings of the period, its dominant visual feature is its characteristic Mansard roof, treated with much greater elaboration than some of its contemporaries such as F.E. Ruffini's Blanco County Courthouse.

"The courthouse is laid out on the traditional cross axial plan with wide corridors that divide the ground floor into four equal quadrants. The disposition of the interior spaces follows the massing of the outside walls. Stairways at either side of the east west hall rise simply to a graceful curve at the top. The second floor is occupied by an imposingly scaled courtroom and several jury rooms."

This area with few residential buildings but several active and disused commercial sites is located off downtown Winston-Salem. Also in this case I was attracted both by the (usual) presence of poles and wires, and by the single block which, given the typology of the building, I consider to be of industrial origin.

Its almost white tone and the very strong contrast between the sunlight and the shadows strongly suggested an elaboration in black and white.

It is a very small hummingbird:

M: 12-15 cm including the tail (7,5 cm) – F: 7,5-9 cm

The Booted Racket-tail is an Andean hummingbird found from Colombia and Venezuela south to Bolivia. This is a spectacular hummingbird - males have a short blackish bill, metallic green body, black wings, and elaborate tail. The tail is long and green, and the central two rectrices are extended with bare rachises tipped with blunt "rackets". Females are white below with green speckles and a white-tipped tail lacking racketed elaboration.

Both sexes of Booted Racket-tail show puffy white leg feathers. This very small hummingbird favors humid woodland edges in mid-elevations in the Andes.

Fizzz. Bang, Pop & whizz

This is an elaboration of my image of the optical counterpart to supernova remnant G82.2 +5.3. . The data acquired to produce this mosaic was photographed in 2015 and 2017. The combined data give a little more orientation to this object in its habitat. This area of Cygnus has the signature of having undergone a massive high energy event or events.

Only in the video I could see the color of her eyes and hair, in old age, and I saw her after this elaboration of portrait "pop", otherwise I could have given her red hair and light blue eyes

Andrea Casciu è un artista che sta facendo parlare molto di sé in questi mesi. Ha voluto lasciare la sua "impronta" anche a San Gavino Monreale.

L’opera è parte del progetto Non solo Murales, evento che ha visto e sta vedendo al lavoro per le strade della cittadina nel sud della Sardegna alcuni dei nomi più importanti della nostra scena. L’intervento realizzato da Andrea Casciu raccoglie l’eredità della particolare ricerca dell’artista, declinata qui da temi e spunti di natura personale.

Come visto l’autore porta avanti un approccio pittorico legato alla rielaborazione del proprio stesso volto attraverso la quale sviluppare ed affrontare temi di varia natura. Influenzato spesso dall’ambiente di lavoro, l’artista modifica gli elementi ed i connotati del proprio volto con l’obiettivo di riflettere su tutte quelle sfaccettature ed emotività che caratterizzano l’essere umano.

Quest’ultima pittura proposta da Andrea Casciu nasce dalla volontà dell’autore di rendere omaggio alla memoria di un amico scomparso lo scorso anno. Il volto si apre celando al proprio interno un grande cuore meccanico dal quale vediamo emergere una serie fiori rossi.

In attesa di scoprire i prossimi spostamenti dell’artista, vi invitiamo a dare un occhiata alle immagini in calce al nostro testo con tutti i dettagli di quest’ultima pittura.

Andrea Casciu is an artist who's been talking a lot about herself over these months. He wanted to leave his "imprint" also in San Gavino Monreale.

The work is part of the project Not only Murales, an event that has seen and is looking at work on the streets of the town in southern Sardinia some of the most important names of our scene. The intervention by Andrea Casciu collects the inheritance of the artist's particular research, which is outlined here by personal themes and ideas.

As seen, the author advances a pictorial approach to the re-elaboration of his own face through which to develop and deal with various themes. Influenced often by the working environment, the artist modifies the elements and the features of his face with the aim of reflecting on all facets and emotions that characterize the human being.

This last painting by Andrea Casciu was born from the author's wish to pay tribute to the memory of a friend who passed away last year. The face opens by concealing a large mechanical heart inside which we see a series of red flowers emerging.

Puna a Pau, Rapa Nui, Easter Island, Chile.

Puna Pau is a small extinct volcano, located about 7 kilometers northeast of Hanga Roa, whose name refers to a source or well of water that should have existed in its surroundings. This crater is part of a set of parasitic cones that emerged during the eruptions of Ma’unga Terevaka, the youngest and highest volcano on Easter Island.

Inside the Puna Pau crater there is a quarry of red scoria that was once an important source of raw material for the islanders. The red scoria or hani hani, as it is known in the Rapanui language, is a type of volcanic ash of great porosity and scarce hardness, which shows a reddish color due to the iron oxide present in its composition.

Currently, the Puna Pau crater is just a depression in the land covered with vegetation. Only a few outcrops of scoria are visible on the southern slope, where a rock wall shows several stripes of reddish material.

The current form of the small volcano is the result of the intervention of the hand of man throughout history. According to the latest excavations, during the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries an intense work of extraction was developed in the Puna Pau quarry, whose main motive was the elaboration of the pukao or cylindrical headdresses that crowned some of the statues of Easter Island.
