The NATO Maritime Command-led Dynamic Mariner/Flotex-19 (DYMR/FL19) is an exercise that tests NATO’s Response Force Maritime Component and enhances the flexibility and interoperability amongst allied nations. DYMR/FL19 involves ships, submarines, aircraft and personnel from fifteen allied nations converging off the coast of Spain between 8th and 18th September 2019.

These are shots of a standard grey card at 1 stop intervals with associated histograms. They were shot with a Canon G5.
Things to note...
1. You can see that the 0EV exposure isn't quite centred which means the cameras meter is slightly over-exposing the scene.
2. The 2EV image is almost at the top of the range. Half a stop more is probably the limit of the top end.
3. The -2EV image is no where near the bottom of the range. There is one to one and a half more stops in the shadows before it goes to black.
So based on this the effective dynamic range of this camera appears to be 6 to 7 stops.

NATO Allies collaborated during a search and rescue exercise in the North Sea on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, as part of Exercise DYNAMIC MERCY 2022.
French Naval vessel, FS Pluvier and personnel with the French, British, Royal Danish and Norwegian air force actively participated in the search and rescue. Rescue responders from nearby countries also responded, bringing national and civilian entities side-by-side with military units.
Dynamic Mercy promotes inter-regional and cross boundary cooperation between Rescue Coordination Centres and Search and Rescue units, military or civilian, in NATO's northern region. This also includes Partner Nations that have common Search and Rescue Region boundaries with Allies.

SG̱ang Gwaay Llanagaay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on the south western edge of Gwaii Haanas, Haida Gwaii
This is a new test, checking not only the dynamic range but the color detail and lack of noise in the shadows. In the RAW image, the house and trees were dark - in shadows. This model camera is supposed to open up to 5 stops. This is the first test using color in the shadows and I only had to open up 3 stops. Back prior to this current generation of bodies, this would have been a multi-exposure image. Even the distant pasture is well exposed.
The dynamic range of the D850 is about half a stop better than the D800 or D810. This gives the photographer amazing latitude when shooting and in post processing.
Animals from across the globe invade New York City!!! Well, not quite. Actually, renowned Taiwanese artist Hung Yi, brings his artistry to the heart of New York City’s Garment District with his lively menagerie of eleven phantasmagoric sculptured animals which bring good luck and draw upon traditional Chinese culture and religion, as well as the artist’s own experiences and imagination. Using traditional motifs and symbols (as well as some words in English) Hung Yi’s brightly colored sculptures bring life to the streets of downtown Manhattan. Enter, the Fancy Animal Carnival!
Brought to NYC in September the sculptures were supposed to be here until April 15th, however, two days following their last day they were still seen on the streets. Perhaps, they still have work to do in bringing good luck and fortune to New Yorkers and all visitors to the city. I certainly hope so!
