I had a chance to visit the 2015 Phoenix Comicon - wow - it was impressive, amazing, and huge! It was a visual assault on the senses. So many people in costumes everywhere - for every person I shot there were 2-3 people I missed. The Comicon was scattered between a very large convention center and several hotels so I definitely got a lot of exercise trying to take it all in (which is impossible). Everyone was so gracious about shooting with me, a big goofy photographer.
I loved the energy and creativity people put into their costumes - many of them home-made. I hope I make it back for the 2016 event.
I took these photos at the end of May 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona.
It has been a tradition to have the image of the Child Jesus visit His parents before His grand day. The icon will be leaving His home in the Basilica del Sto. Niño which is in the heart of Cebu City and will be paraded to His foster father in the St. Joseph Parish in Mandaue City, another city next to His domicile. A great number of dynamic and lively devotees will be following the Infant, as He make His way, once a year, to His father Joseph. The Niño stays with His father for a day and a night, while believers from nearby cities and municipalities can join with Jesus’ celebration and have a vigil in the parish.
After an overnight stay with His father, He will be voyaging His way to His mother in a nearby island in Lapu-Lapu. The ceremonies in Cebu begin with this early morning fluvial procession, reenacting the coming of the Spaniards.
The Holy Child Jesus is usually kept in a glass case bedecked with blossoming flowers, which will be carried by a “galleon” towards His destination. The sound of drums beating and trumpets roaring in the wee hours of the morning would not affect the solemnity of the ritual. Fireworks, ship’s bullhorns, sirens and yells from the Sto. Nino devotees can add vibrance to the decorated motorboats sailing under a brilliant sun. Air Force helicopters from Mactan Air Base and other private planes will be hovering above and showering petals in the flotilla, which include motorized bancas, passenger boats, yachts, barges and fastcrafts.

Following their well-received and dynamic flying display at RIAT 2015, the Ramex Delta tactical display team, flying two examples of the Dassault Mirage 2000N strike aircraft, will be returning to this year's show.
First flown in 1978, the Mirage 2000 has been in service with the Armée de l'Air since the early 1980s, in fighter and conventional strike versions as well as the nuclear-capable 2000N, which forms part of the backbone of France's Forces Aériennes Stratégiques (Strategic Air Forces). Its main weapon in the nuclear strike role is the ASMP medium-range air-to-surface nuclear cruise missile, but the 2000N can also drop conventional weapons, by day or night and in all weathers.
This version serves solely with France; other customers for the Mirage 2000 are Egypt, Greece, India, Peru, Qatar, the Republic of China and the UAE. The Ramex Delta team comes from Escadron de Chasse 2/4, the famous 'Escadrille Lafayette' of First World War fame.
I've already uploaded a shot from this location, but that was a rather tranquil scene, this from the same spot is much more dynamic. via 500px ift.tt/2u7m2UA
