I only found out about this a few days ago and the weather has been awful. The deadline of the 14th was looming, so as soon as I saw some sun I raced out to Rouken Glen in Glasgow.
Landscape is not my thing at all, so this was a challenge. Don't know if I am super pleased with it.... but I tried.

It was quite an experience to see how rapidly the fog could move across the landscape. The difference between this clear photo and the foggy one I posted yesterday was only 1 minute!

Dynamic Mercy tests the coordination and cooperation of air and maritime national assets. Denmark, Norway, and the UK with their national RCCs and SAR assets are the key nations involved in the exercise. The training scenarios include simulations of on-board fire, over boarding, crashes and emergency evacuation to shore.

This nondescript control stand was EMD's standard for many years. In this case, it belongs to former Louisville & Nashville GP30 number 1030. The geriatric veteran now pulls excursion trains at Oak Ridge. How many hands have flipped its generator field or headlight switches, jockeyed its throttle back and forth from Idle to Run 8, or thrown its reverser this way or that? For sure, however, no hoghead placed the selector lever above into dynamic brake mode: L&N's GP30s were never equipped with 'em.

NATO Allies collaborated during a search and rescue exercise in the North Sea on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, as part of Exercise DYNAMIC MERCY 2022.
French Naval vessel, FS Pluvier and personnel with the French, British, Royal Danish and Norwegian air force actively participated in the search and rescue. Rescue responders from nearby countries also responded, bringing national and civilian entities side-by-side with military units.
Dynamic Mercy promotes inter-regional and cross boundary cooperation between Rescue Coordination Centres and Search and Rescue units, military or civilian, in NATO's northern region. This also includes Partner Nations that have common Search and Rescue Region boundaries with Allies.

I was lucky today. With my manual focus Canon FDn 80-200mm F4 telephoto lens, I was able to capture this couple of white pelicans in flight pin sharp. Now, my next challenge is to try capturing some flying insects.
