Celebrating Dr. E's LAw of Moving Dimensions ^& Dynamic Dimensions Theory dx4/dt=ic which derives from Homer's Odyssey! "Tell me, O muse, of that ingenious hero who travelled far and wide after he had sacked the famous town of Troy. Many cities did he visit, and many were the nations with whose manners and customs he was acquainted; moreover he suffered much by sea while trying to save his own life and bring his men safely home; but do what he might he could not save his men, for they perished through their own sheer folly in eating the cattle of the Sun-god Hyperion; so the god prevented them from ever reaching home. Tell me, too, about all these things, O daughter of Jove, from whatsoever source you may know them." --Homer's Odyssey! herosodysseyphysics.wordpress.com
Drove 60 miles down a rocky dirt road for these shots and camped overnight to shoot this Torweap / Tuweep sunrise! Toroweap, a Paiute terms,"dry or barren valley." And it was! I slept five feet from the edge all night, as I was shooting night shots of a dead tree on the edge, with the canyon and silvered river down below.

Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Printing them on metallic paper at 13" x 19" and mounting and framing them on a 4mm 18x24 white mat and 2" dark wood frame. Also printing some 40" x 70" whihc is over three feet by five feet! Wish you all could come (and hang out with the goddesses)!

An aurora, also commonly known as the northern lights, is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions. Auroras display dynamic patterns of brilliant lights that appear as curtains, rays, spirals, or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky. This was shot in Pray, MT, 40 mins driving distance north of Yellowstone NP. We lived in a fantastic Airbnb house for three days and really enjoyed the surrounding views.
It is always a great chance to see a stunning sunrise with dynamic clouds after storm.
This High Dynamic Range 360° aerial panorama was stitched from 104 bracketed photographs with PTGUI Pro, tone-mapped with Photomatix, processed with Color Efex, and touched up in Affinity Photo and Aperture.

Nothing is scarier than looking down at your camera and seeing your lights overexposed and your darks underexposed when you have got two 645 prime movers roaring into view.. But then you get back to the desk and work some serious magic. L510, with a "map" up front hustles its way across the Theresa Marsh as it blares the horn for Theresa Station. Not sure if this will be a repeating pattern, but when I checked L510 out the other day it had two SD60's for power. I can only assume this is going to be the next replacement for the 40's, which are both 44 years old in this photo.
Drawn by me. Lee Bermejo (pencilled Joker, pencilled Lex Luther: Man of Steel, pencilled Batman Deathblow: After the Fire, and made Batman Noel)has been a great inspiration to me recently. I just noticed how how Batman's eyes look, but oh well!
I was experimenting with dark outlines to really make the details pop with this one. I think it worked quite well.
As the coronal mass ejection reaches Earth, the solar particles are deflected away by the planet's magnetic field in this NASA-created image, a still capture from a 4-minute excerpt of "Dynamic Earth: Exploring Earth's Climate Engine," a fulldome, high-resolution movie playing at planetariums around the world.
The excerpt explores the fundamental power of the sun and how its energy drives the climate on Earth, and is made up entirely of new visualizations -- created by NASA Goddard's Scientific Visualization Studio -- that illustrate NASA satellite and model data of a coronal mass ejection from the sun, Earth's magnetic fields, and winds and ocean currents circulating around our planet.

These visualizations were recently accepted to be shown at the SIGGRAPH 2012 computer animation conference. To read more about this, go to:

The excerpt was also the basis for the 100th story released through the Scientific Visualization Studio's iPad app, called NASA Visualization Explorer. To see the app story in web form and to download the app, go to:
Well not exactly Batman and Robin and if we were to be super hero's I'm sure we would fight over being Wonder Woman. What Gillian and I do have though is a dynamic friendship, we have known each other for some six years and even if we can go some months between seeing each other the strength and bond of that friendship never diminishes. I feel we are true girlfriends.

Spring Time in the Malibu Canyons! Nikon D800E Dr. Elliot McGucken Fine Art Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show!
Yet more photos and more final edits! I was up at 4:30 AM the past four days shooting sunrises! Awesome sunrises over Point Dume thie time of year in Malibu.
Then I spent all day today moving over 75 large photos into the gallery! Most of these are framed and matted with 13"x19" metallic prints and an 18"x24" mat and a 3" wood-grain black frame! They look awesome! Stop on by Bel Air Camera's Gallery downstairs if you are close to UCLA or in Westwood. Give me a head's up, and I will meet you there if I'm free.
