BFL. The color isn't quite true here; the lighter blue is a sharper turquoise.

Here's my jars of various colors of Jacquard Acid dye, my mask and my squirt bottles.

The tween attended a tie dye event at the library.

Experimented with rust dyeing today, in which I sprayed rusty objects and an old white sheet with a white vinegar and water solution. After leaving for 12+ hours, this is the result. Currently undergoing the fixing process, using hot water and salt. Moving onto the textiles rotation next week at college, and I hope to be able to incorporate this technique somehow as I adore the textures and aged effect it leaves behind. Credit to user Joekevdv via Instructables for the tutorial (www.instructables.com/id/Rust-Dyeing/) and my tutor Kirsty Ratcliffe for exposing me to the technique.

All skeins were handspun wool (Brown Sheep rovings) and had been pre-mordanted with alum & cream of tartar. I used yellow onion skins for this batch. Skeins were added individually, and in sequence.

Photo is 'not' in order, sorry; the rust skein was the first, then the yellow. The dyebath was weakening at that point so I crushed some cochineal critters and added them to the brew, which gave the dark to light pinks. Shucks, I was hoping for a range of oranges...

Final day of dyeing - dyed crocheted squares, knitted strips, a ball of yarn and an extra long skein which 3 of us dyed.

When I poured the purple dye it started to separate a bit. I actually kind of like the effect.

My first time ever doing poodle feet/face and dying a poodle. It's a lot easier to dye a compliant dog (read: Bonaparte) but this didn't turn out too badly when you think about it. He looks really cute, although the deep blue isn't deep enough IMO so you really don't see a "fade". Oh well, next time.

The food coloring that we added to the dyes, which mom then used to tye-dye her dish rag (on purpose).

I tried my hand at dyeing yarn last night. I used green foodcoloring and put in a little white distilled vinegar. I ignored the article about using wool, and, knowing full well the dye just might not take on Orlon Acrilic, I proceded anyway. The yarn is drying now and it has a pale green varigated effect
