dye practice - center pull ball dunked 1/2 way in dye bath

tried a new dye method of starting a dye pot with a pale color, dipping the yarn and them adding progressivley darket colors to the pot and atying knots in the skeins and dipping them in. Pretty fun. These colors all started from the same dye pot.

Here is the Icelandic wool and the Merino/Tussah/Alpaca wool after their copper mordanting and long soak in the black-eyed susan dyebath

It is quite clear I used way too much dye! It took me ages to rinse the stuff...

The last three stripes of my grand self-striping sock yarn masterpiece are almost done...

Rinsing the excess dye away in the shower, using water which is approximately the same temperature as the wool, to avoid felting.

More of the recycled sweater. The back I kept together to make some self striping yarn. I then ran it through the wheel to give it a little twist.
