Rinsing the excess dye away in the shower, using water which is approximately the same temperature as the wool, to avoid felting.
More of the recycled sweater. The back I kept together to make some self striping yarn. I then ran it through the wheel to give it a little twist.
I spent some of yesterday dyeing samples for my project. Somehow because of the combination of it being Monday, early and not done coffee, I somehow managed to make my first set of samples with a 1% strength dye solution instead of 100%. Um. Heh.
The colors are pretty pastels, and I have recorded all the stupidity so I can replicate them if I like, the only thing is, this project is a hat for my husband, something tells me this isn't the palette of choice.
FAIL.
This Gems Opal was dyed in a workshop setting using Lanaset dyes in an electric skillet. We warped the color sections then dyed them. I love it!
tried a new dye method of starting a dye pot with a pale color, dipping the yarn and them adding progressivley darket colors to the pot and atying knots in the skeins and dipping them in. Pretty fun
