Japanese leaves placed on tee shirt sprayed with light colored dye. Two more colors added with different placement of leaves.
I keep a scarf out on a hanger, and when I'm using thickened dyes for a specific project, any excess dye gets dripped on the trash scarf. Usually I overdye the scarf with a resist once I retire it, but I really love this one!

This should have gone AFTER the photos of the dye pot. Oh well. You know the dye has "struck" and been completely absorbed when the water is really clear. After this I let it cool down and then rinsed it off.
dyeing fabrics with Procion MX fiber reactive dyes and ice. colors used were mixing red, fucshia, sun yellow, golden yellow and rust orange. in this piece i used more yellows than reds
Not been out and about much so thought I'd try some stuff indoors. Just messing around with food dye. Didn't have the set up quite right this first time of trying, will hopefully do better next time!
a Piece of cotton gauze dyed in, left to right, RIT navy blue and sunshine yellow, RIT taupe and dark green, Procion pearl gray (which is actually under all the other colors too), RIT taupe teal and dark brown.

decided that i wanted to make some natural dye...spent all morning digging up dandelion roots and picking plants!
