Mongoose are very cute although they are voracious predators. Whilst in Tarangire National Park we saw one mongoose (a slender mongoose) climbing a tree and dragging bats out of a hole they were roosting in. Many bats had escaped and were lying on the floor however, the mongoose ran around killing every one and then started carrying them off one by one

Ruohokanukka

Kukat ovat pieniä, melkein mustia, joita ympäröi neljä näkyvää valkoista terälehteä muistuttavaa suojuslehteä.

This was taken whilst onboard a boat trip which spent two days gently weaving in between the towering limestone pillars scattered across Halong Bay.

Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge, spanning the border between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States. The largest of the three is Horseshoe Falls, also known as the Canadian Falls, which straddles the international border of the two countries. The smaller American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls lie within the United States. Bridal Veil Falls is separated from Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island and from American Falls by Luna Island, with both islands situated in New York.

Formed by the Niagara River, which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, the combined falls have the highest flow rate of any waterfall in North America that has a vertical drop of more than 50 m (160 ft). During peak daytime tourist hours, more than 168,000 m3 (5.9 million cu ft) of water goes over the crest of the falls every minute.[2] Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, as measured by flow rate. Niagara Falls is famed for its beauty and is a valuable source of hydroelectric power. Balancing recreational, commercial, and industrial uses has been a challenge for the stewards of the falls since the 19th century.

Niagara Falls is located 27 km (17 mi) north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, and 69 km (43 mi) south-southeast of Toronto, between the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York. Niagara Falls was formed when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation (the last ice age), and water from the newly formed Great Lakes carved a path over and through the Niagara Escarpment en route to the Atlantic Ocean.

minature daffodils... the tiny flowers are only a quarter to a half an inch across - very delicate and almost translucent.

Captured this African Dwarf Kingfisher recently while visiting the Republic of the Congo.

This is the world's smallest kingfisher with a length of 10 cm (3.9 in) and a weight of 9–12 grams (0.32–0.42 oz), so really something special and only found in Africa.

Although I've seen these before I've never managed to photograph one; only the banded and bushy-tailed varieties.

This is one of nine species of Dwarf Willowherb (genus Epilobium) found in the Canadian Rockies. They are difficult to separate, but nonetheless enjoyable to discover in moist situations. This plant was growing near the shore of Lake O’Hara, Yoho National Park, British Columbia.

Dverghamrar (Dwarf Cliff) are peculiar and beautiful formations of columnar basalt. The landscape is thought to have been moulded at the end of the Ice Age. The sea level was higher at that time and it is believed that the waves caused the peculiar look of the rocks.

I was struck by the way the beachcombers are completely dwarfed by St. Paul's and the riverside buildings!

One of the many beautiful wildflowers growing close to The Organ, Arches National Park. “The extreme clarity of the desert light is equaled by the extreme individuation of desert life forms. Love flowers best in openness and freedom.”

After looking closer at reference pictures, I modified my previous attempt at the droid. As you can see, parts of the design have remained the same, but the slight improvements, I belief, make this model appear better.

Taken in a pollinator garden.

Probably the smallest heron, a first for me, really pleased that I managed a photograph.

I have a collection of these in my small garden patch.

Zinnia x hybrida

Zinnia x hybrida cultivars are a cross between Zinnia elegans and Zinnia angustifolia. They have the short, compact size and profuse flowering of the former and the disease resistance of the latter. Flowers average between 2 and 3 inches in diameter.

Zinnia x hybrida is considered a dwarf group -- they have been bred to be much shorter and bushier than the species plants.

Dwarf crocks are also known as broad-snouted crocodiles or bony crocodiles. They are the smallest crocodilian species.
