This diminutive house on Woodlawn is dwarfed by the more imposing residences on either side. Built in 1937, it's not as small as it looks: 1400 square feet. It's just that the houses around it are enormous.
The house to the right is the Frederick Ives Carpenter house (Pond & Pond, 1898); to the left is a 1905 house by Thomas McCall.
Dwarf Pawpaw (Asimina parviflora), also called Smallflower Pawpaw. True to its name, the flowers are quite small compared to those of the common pawpaw. Gold Branch unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Cobb County, Georgia.
"Pinus mugo Turra, the dwarf mountain pine, is a small tree, or, more typically, a shrub with many spreading stems, and dense, two-needled shoots. Among European pines, it is the most tolerant to cold climates and to bedrock lithology, adapted to any rocky habitat in the high-altitude mountains of Central and Eastern Europe, while merging with the closely related species Pinus uncinata on its western range. It forms widespread, pure scrubland communities over the tree limit, but also occupies avalanche tracks and rocks in the middle altitudes. It plays a major role defending mountain soils from erosion." from forest.jrc.ec.europa.eu/media/atlas/Pinus_mugo.pdf

Trip leader Harry LeGrand tells me this is Dwarf Sundew, Drosera brevifolia, very similar to Drosera capillaris. Harry summarizes:
It (brevifolia) blooms mostly in April, I think, has white flowers, but the main thing is a glandular flowering stalk; capillaris is glabrous.
See this photo, where you can see the glandular flowering stalk.
I am ashamed to say that this is fanart. But it's for a good cause - Dwarf Fortress, one of the deepest and most imaginative games ever created. No graphics to speak of, and the product of one (probably) insane man over four years, but it's my favorite game ever.

Last weekend, I slipped my small pocket camera in my coat. The warm sun was out and the deep snow was beginning to melt as I went for an early morning walk, hopefully to enjoy the last winter walk of the season. This tiny dwarf (about 1-1/2") seems to be holding either a pair of scissors, a lobster or a couple of carrots. No markings, so I don't know the provenance.
Finally some progress on my Dwarf! Hands blushed - check. Tunic with Chainmail Sleeves - check. Boots - check. Fix hem on pants - check. I'm plesantly surprised at how well the dollheart shirt fits with the handmade tunic, the collar lays perfect. I'm not very happy with the Soom cloak though. Not only is it a weird color compared to the other pieces, but it has a weird shine that doesn't photograph well. So, New cloak, possible hat/helm, and upgraded belts and accessories are next on my list!
