Dwarf Iris 'Iris Reticulata' is one of the earliest blooming bulbs in spring, adding glorious blue/purple color to the garden.
I was a little jealous when I wasn't able to climb over the fence to walk right up to the waterfall (terrible shoe choice that day) but hanging back and seeing this comparison of size was just as awesome. A girl next to me, however, was determined to cross the barrier. She talked a group of guys into helping her over despite her terrible shoe choice. About 15 minutes after leaving the falls, we saw a park ranger driving his cart down to the lookout...
Needless to say...I'm quite content with my choice of staying behind the safety fence. I've never had to be rescued by a park ranger, and I'd like it to stay that way! Proper attire is rather important for adventuring.

Dwarf Beech. Fagus sylvatica tortuosa.

After walking for hours over the monotonous rock, just at the time when motivation was needed, we rounded the corner and the Nuns Veil Glacier came in to view. It was a little thinner than expected but looked like an exciting prospect!
I wanted to stop and gaze at the view and take in the route up the glacier but the rocky path in front of us allowed no such pleasure, and, wanting to get in to camp as early as possible I stopped only long enough to get a pic of Conor dwarfed by the mountains in front of us.
The sight of the glacier was also good news as it meant we were approaching the bivvy rock that was meant to be at the head of the glacier, but with the glacier apparently receding, just where this bivvy rock was no one actually knew.
