An african dwarf crocodile me and rakie saw on our visit to zsl whipsnade zoo on saturday :D
This crocodile was smaller than most iv seen, but still a cool crocodile. I guess being small makes him more suited to being in a zoo... crocodile
on Friday evening. Ok at first I just had two spare cages and was thinking of getting a dwarf hammy, so I wrote an ad and I got an e-mail "I'll present a dwarf hammy girl, 4months old, tamed" and I was lost... I mean, it's not like giving away baby hammies, I felt so sad knowing someone wat to get rid of a tamed 4months old hammy...so here she is...
There is just a problem...Matýsek seems so unhappy about it, I thought he wouldn't mind as she's not a syrian but he's so nervous hearing her run in wheel or I don't know what...well I hope it's just this and not he's ill or something...hearing about so much hamster tragedies lately makes me nervous and overbearing?? this word is probably wrong.

Arcuthobium campylopodum, dwarf mistletoe. This species is an obligate parasite of several pines. Seeds are formed on female plants (dark spots within each fruit are the naked endosperm of the seed). When mature these endosperms are explosively shot out at various angles for up to 35 feet. They are covered with a sticky substance that allows them to adhere to any surface they fall onto. Once the fall rains begin, the sticky substance becomes slippery and the endosperm slides downwards. It will either lodge in some crevice or crack or fall off onto other branches or to the ground. Later, the once sticky, then slippery substance hardens to cement the endosperm in place. The endosperm germinates the following spring. If ideally lodged in a needle fascicle, for example, the endosperm forms a hypocotyl that both forces and digests its way into young host tissue. The new mistletoe plant, either female or male, becomes mature in several years or so, depending upon the mistletoe species. Internally, sinkers emanating from the developing plant become associated with host vascular tissue to sustain mistletoe growth.
Should you come across a ripe dwarf mistletoe plant in the condition of the one illustrated, give it a gentle massage and see what happens.
As part of our blitz tour of Southern California we decided to head inland from the coast to check out Sequoia National Park (we are National Park junkies). We traveled from the cold coast to the 100 degree plus interior. It was quite a change but I wanted to show Heather the big trees. One other thing - Heather started exercising a few months ago - now instead of complaining about walking she's turned into a gazelle/mountain goat like walker. We pulled off at a small turnout to check a waterfall way below us - next thing I know she is in the water, chilling out. After that we went to Moro Rock - a highlight of the park - many, many steep steps but that was no obstacle. Zoom zoom, she's on top. Trees? She was busy climbing them. All in all a good day but I was exhausted watching her constantly in motion.
I took these photos in August 2019
