Frisco 1630 arrives back onto station Track 2 at IRM, passing a former CNW dwarf signal. Union, IL

Pittosporum is one of at least three varieties of plants called "Mock Orange". Until recently, I didn't know there was more than one. But thanks to other people's posts I've learned.

I've had this plant for several years, but this is the first time it has bloomed. It does have nice fragrance - almost too sweet though :-)

Dwarf Pansy is one of Britain's rarest flowers and is only found in a small area of grassland on the island of Bryher in the Scilly Isles, though in 2021, two plants were rediscovered on the uninhabited island of Tean, the first seen there since 2005. www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/may/29/dwarf-pansy-b... I posted a Dwarf Pansy a few days ago but that had a finger to give scale, so here's a straight photo of the tiny flower itself (c2mm across). I should say that it is more widespread across southern Europe but in Britain it is restricted to Scilly. Here's its British distribution map: plantatlas.brc.ac.uk/plant/viola-kitaibeliana Its scientific name was in honour of Pál Kitaibel (1757-1817) a Hungarian botanist and chemist. The name was given by an Austrian botanist Josef Schultes (1773-1831).

I love to place my camera close to a subject and just click,

in this case I didn't even look in the camera, I liked what I saw after I uploaded it in the Iphoto. I think it looks better in large.

I made a big change to my Facebook page.

Since I was uploading so many photos of the bunnies anyway, I decided to change it from 'Emily Kember Photography' to a page for the bunnies! The page is now called 'Luna & Oliver'!

So head on over to Facebook and give us a like! :)

Don't worry Flickr followers, I will still be uploading photos here. In fact, I am trying to upload more frequently. So look forward to that! :)

It's hot here again (high 20s) which seems to have encouraged the new dwarf delphiniums to burst open. I bought them on spec and I love 'em!

"If you love the look of traditionally tall Delphiniums but they’re just too tall for your use, you’re in luck! From the breeder of the New Millennium Hybrids comes a brand new series of truly dwarf Delphiniums. Topping out under 2½' tall, these new dwarf Delphiniums never need staking and won’t fall over in their pots."

Caesalpinia pulcherrima (Dwarf Poinciana) is a species of shrub in the family Fabaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form.

142078 is dwarfed by the towering presence of Billingham signal box.

With the box due to close in 2018* and the pacers due for retirement at around the same time it's possible that this view will not be possible in a couple of years time.

There appears to be a lot of local interest in preserving the box and bridge which are local landmarks and finding some alternative use for them after the signalling responsibilities have been moved to York.

8th January 2017.

*In the end the box hung on until early 2021 when it was demolished along with others in the area as part of resignalling works.

40 Eridani (also known as Omicron2 Eridani, or Keid) is a triple star system less than 16.5 light years away from Earth. It is in the constellation Eridanus. The pair 40 Eridani B/C was discovered on January 31, 1783, by William Herschel. In 1910, it was discovered that although component B was a faint star, it was white in color, in fact it was the first discovered white dwarf.
