Although not in use in the summer they still make a structural statement

I love hand washing and seeing the random combination of dishes that end up in my drying rack.

Fire Hose Drying Rack, where the hoses go to dry out after use to keep from mold and rotting.

Belugas flood the Churchill River by the thousands in the summer and provide meat to people and dogs. In order that they not also provide meat to polar bears, their flesh is hung on these very high platforms to desiccate for jerky.

I got 2.5 loads of laundry onto this bad boy! We currently have it in front of our heater and I have a box fan blowing on it to help it dry, as our apartment is on the cool side. The only things I washed that I couldn't fit on this were two sheets. I am super impressed at how much I could fit on here.

Three big-sized glass containers to store food in that won't leach chemicals into our food. Also, glass is infinitely recyclable, which plastic can only be recycled about three times, usually. Unfortunately, made in Italy but this is what TOSSS could get. Also, I have priced out other glass containers and they are pricey! We got three for $24, which is pretty good, considering I just saw one big one at Fred Meyers for $15. We're trying.

I went home from work in thunderstorm. Everything was wet. Good thing work laptop survived.

I used the drying rack to dry my shoes, the bags, etc.

The sweet persimmon (ama gaki) can be peeled and eaten directly, but the astringent ones (shibu gaki) is only palatable after being peeled and dried for weeks. Somehow the texture and flavor change from horrid to delightful. In the days before (cheap, refined) sugar, any kind of sweet food was a rare treat. Sometimes there might be a little honey or cooked sweet potato. But for most people it was a persimmon tree of their own that supplied country people with something sweet long after the season of fresh fruit had passed.

Still today many people enjoy the old-fashioned taste of dried persimmons in the whole, or cut up and added to confections. The other thing seen drying in window frames, house sides, garage or carport shelters is onions tied into strings and hung up to keep from spoiling.

Loved the colors in this impromptu shot of the dishes on the drying rack. An odd assortment: an asparagus steamer, a cutting board and a citrus juicer...

I turned an Ikea CD rack into a drying rack. I prefer it over Riso's racks.

Since I do not have a swift or a ball winder, I'm forced to improvise a bit.

There are times when I miss my ex-fiance. The son and grandson of a knitter, he was used to being a "human swift" of sorts. Ah well.

Playing around a bit with framing the photo.

A lot of designs I've seen let the arms hang down onto the floor. My design gets airflow to the arms and keeps them off the floor.

I'm preparing the finished front and back sweater pieces for assembly, though the sleeves aren't quite done yet.

Blocking is a finishing step in knitting garments. You dampen (or in this case, soak) the knit material with water and stretch it to the desired dimensions, then pin it to dry. I don't have a proper blocking board, so I use makeshift solutions for blocking; this time, it was an ordinary sweater drying rack.

In a flash of brilliance, I realized that I could significantly reduce blocking time by positioning the sweater rack over the air purifier instead of leaving it in the shower. It was the world's fastest blocking ever!

Every few months, as I get more photos of my drying rack I will add them to this mosaic. :-)

Always hand washed. I think I need to circulate my Pyrex that are most often in use... I see the same ones ending up in the drying rack. :-)

The free-standing wooden "Kozolec" are used to dry the hay.

Airing the Pappardelle before cooking. My small pasta rack wasn't tall enough, so I found this alternative at The Container Store- it's a laundry rack!

Lori cooks up chicken, foil wrapped veggies, spicy cumin couscous and pumpkin bread with fresh whipped cream. Delightful!

What can I say... I use them almost daily and I always hand wash! It's not like I love washing dishes... just gotta do whatcha gotta do. I guess it's what you call Pyrex Love. :-)

I will start rotating in my other stuff soon. I'm getting tired of looking at my everyday ware.
