Using my friend Don's flash rig, this is my first and only attempt at a water drop shot. Shot with a Canon G11 !
Best viewed large. This is a suggested crop of one of my pictures taken a few weeks ago. The real image is the defraction within the drop. A lens is formed in the water and the flowers behind are shown as an inverted image in the drop.

Macro Monday November 12, 2012 - Motion Blur
I used to participate in every Macro Monday, but for the last year or so haven't been able to make the time to shoot. Well it's time to make what I love a priority again, so here's my Macro Monday photo.
A drop of yellow food coloring into water.
Wish I ha purchased some gold a while ago since it seems to be the only thing going up in value...Instead I had to find my own little drops of gold in the garden.

Impressive updraft feeding this storm cell as it moves across lower Michigan. Of course the cell I WOULD have targeted produced a tornado (at least on radar and not yet confirmed) and I was not able to be in position for that. But I at least got to get some shots of this one which was pretty photogenic.

The Valley of the Rocks is a section of the coastline on the northern edge of Exmoor, Devon, England.
For me with a "scepticism" towards heights not the best spot, but somehow I appear to be drawn to these locations nevertheless. For everyone without that specific problem, a comfortable asphalted path for a walk with a fantastic view…
It was already quite windy, though, a day before storm "Ciara"/Sabine" started (have storms always been named per nation? Why??), making me even less comfortable up there.

This drop of water is sitting on a seedhead and is refracting a tiger lily in the background. A tonemapping process brings out some detail in the seedhead and gives the background the character of flames. The refraction of the lily and sky are quite vivid as well.
Remember, everything in a drop refraction is upside down so the sky is in the bottom.
