The tall ship, Elissa, lowering sail as she prepared to enter the harbor. Galveston Historical Foundation brought Elissa, an 1877 square-rigged iron barque, from a scrapyard in Piraeus Harbor, Greece to Galveston to begin restoration work in 1978. By 1982, GHF staff and volunteers completed restoration and transformed this historic vessel into a floating museum that would actively sail. Today, the 1877 Tall Ship is one of only three ships of her kind in the world to still actively sail.

Despite having Christmas on my own I had a fantastic day. An early morning zoom meeting watching my daughter and granddaughters opening presents, followed by the friendship of neighbours, then a fantastic muddy mountain bike ride to the coast, it felt wonderful to get some hard exercise . then another zoom meeting with my daughters, and lots of cooking to show my wonderful Italian friend Maura a traditional British Christmas dinner for our late night FaceTime Christmas special. Finally some dancing to Toots and The Maytals in a kilt :))))) Pressure Drop is by Toots and the Maytals. Sadly Toots Hibbert died to Covid last year, so sad, he was probably the most uplifting person I've ever seen perform at a gig. Pressure drop too after all my cooking exploits, just need to work out how to eat all this food :)))
Lupine - lupin (Lupinu
Besides of its masterfully capability of catching raindrops (because of the tiny hairs that are covering all the leafs) I have a personal connection to lupins. I grew up with the most wonderful german sheeper dog named Dina. When we met first we both were still kids. I was 7 years and she was 8 weeks old. The time I spend with the dog belongs to my most wonderful childhood memories. As Dina died after 14 years, I buried her in our garden and sowed many different lupines on her grave, it was a sea of blossoms every summer. Everytime, I see one of those flowers, I have to think of it. Every time. Thank You Dina.
Außer, dass Lupinenblätter wahre Meister im Fangen von Regentropfen sind (weil ihre Blätter über und über mit kleinen Härchen bedeckt sind) habe ich persönlich noch eine ganz besondere Verbindung.zu diesen Blumen. Ich bin zusammen mit dem wundervollsten Deutschen Schäferhund aufgewachsen, sie hieß Dina. Als wir uns kennen lernten waren wir beide noch Kinder. Ich war 7 Jahre sie 8 Wochen alt. Die Zeit mit dem Hund gehört zu meinen schönsten Kindheitserinnerungen. Als Dina nach 14 Jahren verstarb, beerdigte ich sie in unserem Garten und sähte auf dem Grab ganz viele unterschiedliche Lupinen, im Sommer ein Blütenmeer. Daran muss ich denken, jedesmal, wenn ich eine dieser Blumen sehe. Jedesmal. Danke Dina.

The Drop is a steel sculpture resembling a raindrop designed by the group of German artists known as Inges Idee, located at Bon Voyage Plaza in the Coal Harbour neighbourhood of downtown Vancouver. The 20 m tall piece is covered with Styrofoam and blue polyurethane. According to Inges Idee, the sculpture is "an homage to the power of nature" and represents "the relationship and outlook towards the water that surrounds us".[1] The Drop was commissioned as part of the 2009 Vancouver Convention Centre Art Project and is owned by BC Pavco.[2]
