Due to a quirk of light and where I was standing, this drop of water hanging from a spider web appears to be half full.
These are Short-finned Pilot Whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) messing about in a large pod off Baja. They are very deep diving whales so quite difficult to catch at the surface. There were about forty whales in this pod doing lots of spyhopping and tail-lobbing. I think there is a third animal visible here in front of the spyhopper. They are often found in large groups and are called Pilot Whales because they were believed to be piloted by a leader. The phrase "drop the pilot" means to abandon an untrustworthy or incompetent leader but it was also a 1983 single for Joan Armatrading.

Many years ago, like more than fifty, there was a huge oak tree that used to drop humongous acorns. The acorns were so big, animals and humans didn't bother messing with them. Then stuff happened and the acorns became petrified and now they lie around looking like rocks and nothing messes with with.

Well, it's really an ice drop, frozen before it could let go of its yew needle.
But, admit it, it does look a bit like a snowdrop.

The Drop Redoubt is one of the two forts on Western Heights; the other being the Citadel, and the two are linked by a series of dry moats (or lines). It is arguably the most impressive and immediately noticeable feature on Dover’s Western Heights.
The artillery at the Redoubt faced mostly inland – it was intended to attack an invading force attempting to capture Dover from the north-east.
The construction of the Redoubt was in two periods, the first being from 1804-1808 during the Napoleonic Wars, the second from 1859-1864 following the recommendations of the 1859 Royal Commission.
