Standard Steel 6734 came from the North Shore system, parent of the Juniata Valley RR who serves Standard Steel. It was previously NSHR 366 and is one of three units Standard acquired from NSHR several years ago.
Female Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) on 29 Dec 2015, enjoying a sip of sugar solution that I'd sprayed on the bushes in the front garden (TM166450) on 29 Dec 2015. ID confirmed by Joan Childs on the Facebook UK Hoverflies group page.

After checking in with the Chama office to get a quick run-down on what trains were running, I set off for the east end of the C&TS to look for the "school train." This is an extra train they were running for folks who pay for an engineer or fireman for a day experience. It was almost like having my own charter to photograph and the drone came in handy.
Eristalinus sp. (maybe E. punctulatus)

Order: Diptera
This individual is probably E. punctulatus though the pigmentation on the thorax is heavier than most specimens I have seen. The characteristic four black thorax stripes are not as clear as in other specimens.
The larvae of this fly have a long thin tail, leading to the name of Rat-tailed Maggots. They are found near stagnant water.
As the photos show, this fly was found feeding on flowers of a privet bush (Ligustrum) at Milton, NSW, Australia.
It hovered over the flowers as do the Hoverflies of the Syrphidae family.

I used the mid-day break to get a few drone shots. The rebuilt coal dock shed stands proud over the yard. We'll see more of these later in this album.
Always pay attention . . . I thought these were honeybees on the asters. I took a few random shots and moved on. I was surprised when I got home to see that they were not what I thought. They did fly in a very convincing honeybee fashion.
Last night I and probably a thousand people enjoyed the Fever Drone Art Show at Caulfield Racecourse. Billed as the first in Melbourne it featured a lovely String Quartet playing Vivaldi - The Four Seasons, Swan Lake, Debussey and other classical musical pieces set to a Drone display. I was initially worried about rain so only took my mobile phone but the rain stayed away and the clouds cleared a bit. The most annoying part, as a person seated in the front row, was all the people wandering around getting food and drink during the show!!!
Another performance tonight!
Just for fun:) Hopefully I will find a cure for this terrible decease:P Anyways, I was inspired by some other Drone builders such as Simon Liu and Andrew Somers.

You will enjoy this selfie taken from 100 feet in the air with my DJI Phantom 4 drone at my blessed home beach in Long Island, New York. The water in the bottom left corner is reflecting the afternoon sun, but it is amazng how clear the water is at this time of year. Can you spot me? In this case "looking down" at someone is the only way to see them. :-)
