Also called Eristalis Tenax. The female's eyes are separated, whereas the male's meet. They are a bee "look-alike" and can easily be taken for the real thing!

A Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) feeds from a purple Buddleia. Although they look like a bee, they are in fact a fly as they only have 1 pair of wings rather than 2, and no sting in their tail either, but are highly efficient pollinators.
This aircraft is based next door to us at present, it has been quite active. This picture was taken overhead Bracebridge Heath, 9,000ft at 120 knots.

If you can't climb a steep wall, this place can only be photographed with a drone. As between San Mateo and Rio Blanco, the Rio RÃmac formed an impressively narrow valley in the Peruvian central Andes south of San Mateo. The GE C39-8 with the serial number 1032 is heading towards the next hairpin bend towards the coast.
