This isn't just any pile driver. This is a low profile special machine for working under utility wires. The site is the Middletown Township fishing pier, located at the south end of Belford Harbor. They are replacing the old rotted wood bulkhead with steel.

Couldn't really get a good pick of this driver in his "Bah Humbug" hat (and possibly he wouldn't want an identifiable photo taken anyway).
Unused trucking lot. Something from the past.
Trucking achieved national attention during the 60s and 70s, when songs and movies about truck driving were major hits. Truck drivers participated in widespread strikes against the rising cost of fuel, during the energy crises of 1973 and 1979, and the industry was drastically deregulated by the Motor Carrier Act of 1980. Trucking has come to dominate the freight industry in the latter portion of the 20th Century, along with what are termed "big-box stores" such as Wal-Mart and Target.
We had a wonderful bus driver in Barbados who kept us save and traveled to the three destinations on our tour without incident. This is him with our wives.
Flying training might stop in bad weather but Professional Driver training is an all-weather activity at Carlisle Airport. Here a Volvo FH12 is cautiously reversed through a zigzag formation of cones set up on a disused taxiway at the airport on a wet and windy 25th October, 2008.

3D printed by Shapeways in their stainless steel material, which is actually steel infused with bronze. It would need some machining to bring it to usable tolerances, but the concept is sound.
For our last day in Seattle Heather wanted to take a Duck Ride - it is very touristy and corny, but I went along with her. It was a blast. It's a converted amphibious vehicle that takes you on a tour of some Seattle neighborhoods and also out on Lake Union. Heather really liked the driver because he had almost as many hats as she does. After the ride we went to the Pike Brewing Company near the Pike Street Market for lunch. Good place - and it's also like a beer museum.
I took these photos in September 2014.
