Tarantula Hawks (Pepsis thisbe). Tarantula hawks are spider wasps and their sting is reportedly the second most painful sting known to man (first is the bullet ant).
Tarantula hawks primarily feed on nectar. However, their name reflects that these wasps actively hunt tarantulas. Tarantula hawks are fearless and tenacious. They never give up searching. The barbs on its legs aid in grasping. Once a tarantula is found, the wasp will often wrestle with the tarantula until it can sting it. The venom serves to paralyze but not kill the tarantula. The tarantula will then be dragged to a burrow where the female will lay a single egg on the abdomen. Once the egg is laid, the female leaves and plugs up the burrow.
Once the egg hatches the larvae will make a hole in the abdomen of the tarantula and immediately begin feeding inside of it while avoiding the vital organs for as long as possible, thereby extending the spider's life. After several weeks, the larvae will pupate and exit the abdomen (specific information from Wikipedia).
I have observed a battle only one time and watched the tarantula hawk drag the tarantula which looked many times its size across the road and stuff it in a burrow. I have never observed one drinking before. This particular individual is a male (I believe based on his straight antenna).
We Americans demand our drinking fountains! They are everywhere. On my recent trip to the Mediterranean, I found them almost nowhere. This very same drinking fountain you see here -- with a fountain for the average person, a fountain for a small person or person in a wheelchair, AND even a spigot for dogs -- is found at every single station along the alignment; in fact, I believe most stations have two of these. Just goes to show you the things we take for granted.

High granite stone mountains stand in the middle of lunar scenes. 1750 meters high, rich in minerals and crystals, these mountains also contain hidden remains of old temples. We stopped to visit one, and met with a group of Mongolians, family and friends. Wonderful people. They immediately invited us to come and share a drink with them.
My first try of aïrag, a popular Mongolian drink, made from fermented mare's milk, that can contain up to 5% alcohol. An unexpected taste, with a surprising sourness… one swallow will be enough! Let's switch to vodka instead!

Ils nous ont immédiatement invités à nous asseoir et partager un verre avec eux.
Mon premier verre d'Aïrag, boisson mongole populaire, faite à base de lait de jument fermenté, qui peut contenir jusque 5° d'alcool. Un gout inattendu, d'une acidité surprenante…une gorgée suffira! Passons plutôt à la vodka!

Gelatine balls floating in a dense liquid. I think I got the full one from
someone who eBay'd a case while I was in college. The empties are all from when it was still being sold.
Mate is a super popular drink in Uruguay, Argentina, and in some parts of Chile and Brazil. The taste you have to get used to, but I am learning!
