I was hoping to get a few drops alongside on the table..and yes, it's slightly tight at the bottom..next time :)
i decided to make a blue whale. I also decided I wanted it strained. Then I decided I wanted to take a picture, and then I decided that I was going to play with the ISO of my camera. The picture's a bit grainy as a result, but it's kind of pretty.
1/2 shot Cognac
1 shot raspberry infused Vodka
1/2 shot Creme de Peche
2/3 shot fresh squeezed lemon juice
I am very happy with this cocktail. Very happy indeed - and getting happier by the sip!
It is fairly strong, but like the Sidecar it is based on, the sweet and sour cuts the strength of the liquor and makes for a nice smooth mood.

The only impact this billboard has on me is that it makes me thirsty. Also, I want to tag and release the kid, so I can hook up with him once he's legal.
Found this one thrown away on the roadside. It's a pity that people still throw things away on the roadside while dustbins are so abundant over here.

Another excellent cocktail from the Absinthe Bar book (The Art of the Bar - highly recommended). Rum based, with orange and orange bitters. Serving recommendation was with a sugar rim, so we decided to do that this time, and it was both tasty and pretty, prompting this picture.

Drinks being prepared in the bar of the Silver Orange Bistro near to the Hartbeespoort Dam, North West province.
we were lucky enough to visit a village just off the main road outside Habarana in the cultural triangle area. It's quite a prosperous village and we toured parts of it in a variety of transport: bullock cart; engine drawn cart, foot and catamaran. Our final stop was to take lunch prepared in a village house. Food was served onto lotus leaf plates which rest on water hyacinth plate rests. Food was fresh, spicy, hot and delicious! We were also shown winnowing rice by hand...
This photo however, shows a lovely lady who made us a surprisingly refreshing hot drink of aerva herb which was served in half coconut shells, with pieces of jaggery to sweeten it. The jaggery is completely unrefined cane sugar juice, left to set. It's VERY sweet. Her homely hut is a base for when they tend the fields around and there is also an elevated room for access to which one climbs a ladder where the husband sleeps to watch out in case elephants get into the banana crops.
