Blackbird and fountain with giant Margarita drinks display .
This is in the middle of an outdoor Mexican restaurant in Old own ( they want you to drink plenty of Margaritas with your food ) . I was taking a shot of the fountain with the Margaritas when the bird landed on the edge of the fountain...he took a drink ( of water that is ;-) , then he looked over his shoulder ( that is when i took this shot ) and took another drink , then he flew away ~

With claimed health benefits going back as far as ancient Egypt when it was used as a herbal medicine, Aloe Vera drinks come from that same gel in the leaf used to fight sunburn and other skin problems.
Apparently containing vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6 and folic acid it's one of few plants to contain vitamin B12 (which helps with brain and nervous system function). It also contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, and potassium, as well as amino and fatty acids. Strangely not all of these are listed on the label!
Sounds like a miracle nutrient-packed, cholesterol-lowering, weight loss aid, digestion and immune function drink. There are however, internet reports advising pregnant and nursing mothers to avoid it and the occasional warning that excessive consumption can cause regular trips to the loo. Perhaps that accounts for the detoxing claims!

I'm in the castle bar and would like to have a refreshing beverage served. However, service seems to be lousy here...
"Wai Sie, are you free this Saturday?"
was the beginning of what was soon to be a major landmark of my life. So... I got invited to a birthday party, nothing interesting there. Then I found out the venue, hmm... some pub in Sri Hartamas. "wink wink" I was shocked at first, thinking I've somehow missheard, but no people, it was as it is.
Striked with a sudden curiosity of the place, I agreed. Wait...now I've gotto get past my parents. How did I persuade my parent to let me go? Well, all I can say that it was no joy ride, but I managed. Go figure...
The early bird as I am, I arrived before most people. My mom dropped me off, so you would imagine the in-car lecture I had to endure before she actually let me out. One phrase being the most repetitive.
"No alcohol you hear me!"
Ah... Anyway, I found my friends nussled at a table in a corner and went to locate a comfortable spot to rest my butt. Immediately I got introduced to a few unfamiliar faces. Coversation...
Then came time to order our drinks. My mother's words kept ringing in verbatim in my ears, "no alcohol..." Ok, fine I decided to be a goody goody for the night. Anyway, I didn't think the waiters would allow us anyway. Boy, was I wrong. Almost everyone at the table ordered beer, cocktails... and get this, no one stopped to ask for IDs.
The person above was one of the few who didn't want to drink initially but succumbed in the end. Needless to say the night developed into a pretty "drunk" atmosphere. Boringlah... I left early.
I've realised two things about myself that evening.
1) I have a pretty strong self control
2) I love Virgin Mary (not that, the non alcoholic version of Bloody Mary)
This is officially the second time I've attended an alcohol present party and I'm proud to say that I've been completely sober for both.
I felt it was essential I give you all a little background to the picture for obvious reasons. What have we learned? Kids are not to be trusted...hehe... Unless of course your kid is me...
Rainbow umbrella that was mounted onto a drink cart at the Kentucky Side of the walking bridge. The light is a typical garage drop light, but was very effecting at lighting up the umbrella to draw attention. I grabbed two shots pretty quickly, as the vendor wasn't amused. I shot with the pole about center, but re-cropped to this almost square with the center of the umbrella at the third points.
...die in a ditch. Canberra's subtle approach to curbing the drink driving problem almost killed Bec by causing her to laugh harder than is good for you. I'm surprised she managed to take such a decent photo in the midst of her death throes.

Magpies , an adult and J1 , the oldest of the two juveniles , headed straight to the water pot after breakfast this morning for a drink of water , the first time observed . Instinctively they know it's going to be a hot day and are taking on fluids .

In high school I had the absolute privilege of receiving a whopping 3 megapixel Olympus camera with a 16 megabyte memory card as a christmas gift. My parents saw that I loved photography and sprung for this little gem of a camera. Little did I know this little bundle of glass and circuitry would inspire and take me on such great journeys as it has.
Photographic Details:
I didn’t have any fancy equipment so I did the very best with what I could. I knew I needed a black background for the look I wanted. I took one of my moms nice black jackets and set it up outside as the background and floor of the shoot.
I had no flashes, bounces, fancy lenses or anything else besides my camera. Instead of lights I used the bright overcast sky outside and a wide open aperture of f1.8. This let in enough light for me to shoot at the fastest shutter speed available on this camera, 1/800th of a second. I then poured water into the martini glass and shot as many photos as possible, freezing the action. In addition I took photos of a toothpick olive, and various streams of water.
After selecting my favourite photos of each stream of water I brought the images into paint shop pro. I don’t think it had any masking features but I used the eraser tool to delete the background. I then replaced the background with solid black and added a touch of highlights, combining each item on a layer to get the final image!
I want to prove to you that fancy equipment wasn’t necessary 11 years ago and isn’t now. Even though this image does have many flaws and isn’t fully up to my standards, my brother used the image in one of his marketing assignments and got an A!
