Today from 6-8 Judah, Rachel and I stood outside of the entrance of Jewel to raise money for the HSCA. I dreaded it and only agreed to do the "Tag Day" (that's what they call it) out of guilt and a sense of obligation since they really needed people to take some shifts. So I said yeah...fine...even though I had to wear a dorky vest and hold a milk jug for the money.
It didn't occur to me until t-minus an hour that...wait! I can bring Judah! And then I asked Rachel to come along and she said yes reluctantly.
So I put on Judah's bee costume and within the first two minutes, I swear, I had five bucks. People just started shoving money in the milk jug and everyone wanted to pet Judah and she was having a blast while Rachel handed out a pamphlet for "Paws in the Park".
It was a nice day out and some people gave fives, one woman gave a ten! I was surprised. By 8 there were few people so we packed it up and Rachel said she would love to do it again and Adam echoed that. It really was a nice time and the hours flew by. It helped to have a well-behaved, super friendly, costumed dog, too.
My mom and I couldn't resist counting the money and it was some 52 cents shy of $100! Not bad for two hours!
