In Brugge you see many people who are dressed up in nice clothing, and also fancy hats, both ladies and gents!

It is the capital of West-Flanders.

And the tourists from all over the world follow suit.

Like this young lady on the market square in the centre of this beautiful historic city, where I was born.

The other beauty just posing.

I wish you a day full of beauty and thank you for your visit, Magda, (*_*)

I often wish I could look like a woman. When I cross-dress as a female I inevitably challenge myself to taking a series of close up portraits in pursuit of this inner dream, well it is fantasy really as, alas, I'm a man not a woman so will never look female.

On seeing this picture today I became aware of how over the years I have plucked my eyebrows into a much neater shape that is useful for when I dress up as a woman rather the bushy eyebrows I would have normally.

It's interesting how no-one has noticed this at all. I used to be very concious of having shaped eyebrows yet adored it once I put on my make-up and became Helene. It does help to a degree with my efforts to look more feminine than masculine but as I mentioned, I still feel I cannot escape the man behind the make-up, my features are just not feminine.

Enjoying the sunset at the sunset temple in Kyoto on January 4th. Managed to capture this lovely girl as we were waiting for the sun to set.

This is my first attempt at a people HDR photo, which entails either taking a single image and making a pseudo-High Dynamic Range photo, or getting your model to pose completely still while you take your multi-exposure photographs. NOT what a pre-schooler wants to do! I did get her to sit still for a moment, though, for the 3 exposures. I took this image of my daughter dressed for a Halloween party... the sky was just too amazing that day. I did do a lot of tweaking of the image in Photoshop to bring it to this point. Enjoy the image!

One of my life dreams, maybe ambition maybe more appropriate, is to be able to create a convincing female appearance. I find getting one's body to look female is a relatively easy affair but the face presents the biggest challenge.

Feminising one's male face is never going to be easy for those of us who desire and enjoy trying to appear female. There are of course people who are exceptions to this but the majority of us really have to work hard in this aspect of looking female.

I have come to understand in the last decadethat applying make-up is all about knowing where to put it and what to try and create. Most cross-dressers, indeed a surprising number of women, just put make-up on with no direction of trying to enhance and conceal features. The idea is to bring out and feminise your best parts and disguise the less ideal parts of one's face.

An obvious one is of course beard shadow concealment. Using regular foundation for women is rarely a success in this area unless you have no beard growth or have very light hair. The eyes are where most effort should be focused as this can really help feminise ones face significantly. I admit I'm still learning and hope to succeed one day.

One point I wanted to highlight was the use of restyling a wig. Most T-girls simply wear a wig straight out of the box. I think if one experiments with restyling you may be surprised at the big changes that can occur to one's facial features and overall female look. I would encourage others to try this for themselves. You may need some hairspray (compatible with wigs, especially synthetic ones) and some hair clips.

In this picture I wore my regular 'Katie' wig from Norika and brushed it up and away from my face and switched the centre parting to a side parting. I normally cover my forehead (as I'm getting older and have lines...vanity!) but I became aware opening up my face may be more feminine. It was worth experimenting and I did feel excited and thrilled by the look. In fact it influenced my choice of clothes as I decided a boat neck top I had previously given up on worked better with this swept up hair look.

It just shows how important hair is to ones overall female look and choice of outfit. The make-up is essential for men who cross-dress and this suits me personally as I enjoy wearing make-up a lot. It gives me a huge confidence boost.

Have fun experimenting with your wigs, you will likely hit upon a look you've never tried before but gives you a whole new degree of femininity.

Helene x

PS. I know my left ear looks kind of strange, I'm not sure why it looks like that in this picture. I think I failed to put enough foundation onto the top part and some of my wig covers the top front creating an illusion of a longer ear!
