DRS class66 shed 66301 seen here dragging class37 Scotrail liveried 37401 'Mary Queen of Scots' and empty coaching stock on a move from Carlisle to Crewe.
DRS 66429 is surrounded by glorious autumnal colours as it slows for Whitlingham Junction before taking the Bittern Line to Cromer while working the daily Railhead Treatment Train 3S01 0922 Stowmarket to Stowmarket with ex-EWS 66108 on the rear. The set had departed Stowmarket 15 minutes early, but then went into Norwich instead of taking the usual Wensum Curve.
One of the heaviest flows we have on the East Lancs Line at present is 6C89 Mountsorrell-Carlise ballast ususally running about 3 days a week.Seen here 66424 approaching Blackburn with about 1800 tonnes on the drawhook.

Gresley 'A4' 4-6-2 no.60009 ‘Union of South Africa’, with whistle blowing, and assistance provided by EMD Class 66 Co-Co no.66 172 'Paul Mellene' in charge, pass under the occupational bridge at Angerholme on the Settle & Carlisle line, as they head for Crewe. The train would terminate at Bristol.

The headboard should really read 'DRS to the rescue' as the Dred was a last minute substitution for the unavailable 56 006. I know which I would have preferred!

A small 'Lash Up' was today's engineering train through East Lancashire running as 0K05 Carlisle-Crewe Basford Hall. The ensemble seen passing Mill Hill in Blackburn with a couple of 'Freds' 66593 and 66538 hitching a lift South.
